Singularly ambitious and industrious, humans value reason and intellect but reward shrewd opportunism and short-term successes regularly. Their cities are the industrial centers of the world and their trade routes are its pulsing arteries. There are no countries that are not human dominated, though the Daci don't swear allegiance to any lord and if you ask a Wytchblood foreman who a mine belongs to they'll always give their family name.

It was humans that discovered how to use wytchstone to power the current industrial renaissance and it is human armies that fight against the corrupted monstrosities, but it is also human lords who war over the dwindling lands and humans who often seek to subdue and control those around them. Humans have a tendency to form societies that rely heavily on order, even while the individuals lean towards selfish goals.

In the current "modern" era and with industry and total war on the rise as threats become more prominent, de jure monarchies are on their way out with aristocratic oligarchies becoming more powerful and prominant. These oligarchies are more accepting of the "middle class" or "burghers" than the old fashioned monarchies, but the most progressive governments are located in the blossoming new merchant republics.
