House Lock'aihain

House Loch’lain is numerous and rich. They control the only Jaspine mine on the continent. The magical power of that stone gives House Loch’lain incredible influence. It replaces all needed spell components, increases the duration and force of spells, and extends life itself. With their magic, and prolific numbers, House Loch’lain has more influence than any other. While their wealth might be second to House Gelbvieh, their power makes them the de facto ruler of the Oligarchy. They might not be kings, but they are as close to it as any other. When they speak, everyone listens.

Leader: Draven Lock'Ahain

Cadet houses:

Vasal houses: Benefactor of many minor Noble Houses, House Holbein

Economy: It is said the wealth of House Lock'ahain is second only to that of House Gelbvieh in its depth. This is largely achieved by their near monopolization of the magical crystal known as Jaspine. Their mines are some of the few known sources if the substance so widely sought after by all those of a magical inclination. They combine this with a vast net of connections via political marriage, resulting in them having an influence in nearly all industries among the oligarchy. They then take a portion of these profits and re-invest in much of the Commoners in their land. This investment comes with many strings and results in a large portion of profits from these ventures being returned to the Nobles eventually. All put together, the house has a total revenue of 6.8 billion gold before an expenditures

Military: With a grand total of 200,000 soldiers in the various branches of the military, House Lock'ahain's might is beyond question. Lead by the fifth son, Soren also known by the role of The Knight by tradition, the house has an elite task force directly involved in protecting the main house of castle Loch with a large amount of mages trained by those sent by House Charon. The rest of the military is largely comprised of soldier of Lock'ahain's many vassals and cadet houses.

History: Originally House Lock'ahain was comprised of simple miners, scarping a living in the harsh tundra of Horefalls. Given the broken and rocky terrain, it had a reletively sparse population. Those they stayed survived by their focus on the many mines dotting the mountains, some found Iron, others found Copper, but one mine was special. The mine held by and individual known as Malaki Lock’aihain held the Oligarchys first know source of Jaspine. Originally unsure of this crystals uses, Malaki was clever enough to begin deducing its properties. So they began to approach a few of the more influential and magical houses of the time, House Wheelnameitlater, House Dinn and even House Vellian and their upcoming rivals House Charon. They then would take this power and begin to stoke it. By expanding the houses influence, they made sure that all most all the sources of Jaspine would fall under their control. Still a few smaller sources of the cystal were said to be found, some in the Leauge, some in the Free-cities and even one hidden by House Pryde, but none could even remotely match the output of Lock'ahain mines. This allowed them to rise and spread, taking their coin and using to buy marriages, alliances and the many secrets needed to thrive in these lands

Culture: While not one of the founding houses, Lock'ahain is currently the main power among the great houses. Their many marriages and tradition of siring many children has resulted in the name Lock'ahain spreading far an wide. It is said that a Lock'ahain can be found in nearly every noble house in the oligarchy. Due to this, their culture is seen as rather simple as their size results in theirs being the seeming default among the oligarchy. This has caused much conflict with their rivals in House Villichi due to their rather sexist views on women, but has brought them some measure of kinship with House Gha'ard.
