House Gha'ard
Leader- Onn Gha'ard
Economic: Their coin comes from a combination of mercenary/military work as well a "protection" money from the lesser houses inside their domain. This has resulted in an oddly economically weak house for a great house.
Military- What house Gha'ard lacks in Economic prowess, they more that make up for in military might. House Gha'ard Has a proud warrior culture that favors male offspring over female ones, this has lead to the first born males of each family, from serfs to nobles, being pledged to the nations military might upon their thirteenth birthday. These First born are raised by the House to forget all about their birth families and serve loyally. At least in theory but many still hold links to their homes and those that raised them. This has begun to create an under current of tension in the house
History- House Gha'ard is the newest of the great houses, having strong armed their way into power with their legions rather than economic or political prowess. This is reflected in their history, having started as a major yet weak house and conquered or subjugated it's many neighbors. This has had a notable exception in House Nacioun, where the far weaker weaker house has so far been able to keep them at bay by playing other great houses against, sparking rebellion and a combination of bribery and blackmail. Due to all this, they have so far been able to bring House Nacioun under their control despite their desires, but it is a precarious situation. Tension were heightened between the two houses when Esmyra Gha'ard, one of the many daughters on Onn, defected to Nacioun and became betrothed to its heir, Malleolus Nacioun
House Gha’ard has little wealth. Their lands are poor and unkempt. Only a strong military, capable warriors, and the determination to use them on their serfs keeps them in power. Their hold on their land is the weakest amongst the Great Houses, but don’t let that convince you they’re weak. Legions of heavily armed and armored warriors have proven that weakness can be an illusion.
