Noble Houses
Nascent Houses are landowners. Some might only own a hovel and the small plot it sits on, their title granted centuries ago. Others might have bought their title from desperate Minor Houses looking for cash. Few Nascent Houses have any real wealth, but some are rich. But not rich enough.
Following the Nascent Houses are the Houses Minor. Two hundred in number, the majority of them control towns and counties. They have wealth and they show it off. They are eager to impress those higher than them that they deserve a chance to be considered major.
The Major Houses follow the Minor. They number sixty-six, a number that increases and decreases as their fortunes bend with time. They rule vast acreages, multiple cities, and command thousands of subjects. Money is not a concern for these, and they have true power. Their word is law.
After them is the Great houses. Each one is a major player in the politics of the Oligarchy. Typically each one has influence over a section of the continent but each one has a different degree of control over the other houses occupying them. Typical House Charon Would be considered to have the strongest grip of their lands while House Gha'ard Would have the weakest
