House Vellian
Fomrer rank: Major, (fluctuated between Major and Great house over the years since the house's founding)
House Vellian was once one of the most powerful and feared Houses in the early Oligarchy, credited or blamed for pioneering formal necromancy within noble society. They raised the dead not as crude tools, but as silent stewards, advisors, and servants of eternal loyalty. Death to the Vellians was never an end, only a promotion. Their many undead were key figures in the very founding of the oligarchy, with Noxious Vellian founding the house at its very inception. They were reliant on this power far more than political savvy or subterfuge that is normally needed to thrive in the oligarchy. That is until their magic began to fade. None know why or how this was, but they suddenly seemed incapable of learning new magics. Due to this, they could not fight against the dual forces of attrition and entropy, resulting in them slowly but surely loosing all power they had. As they weakened, many houses saw an opportunity to strike and rid themselves of a potential threat or a rival foe, striping away all land, wealth and power until they began fighting amongst themselves over Vellian's corpse.
These days they are remembered as little more than villains of time, having their reputation and history has been eroded and destroyed by those that followed in its fall. These days to call some one a Vellian is an grievous insult to their character and reputation, declaring them to be little more than a black hearted monster with no honor to them
Before their fall, they occupied a large amount of lands currently contained in House Gha'ard, House Charon and House Mendel lands. It is also said the three played a role in their downfall, Mendel seeing a threat in the houses potential, while the other two had much to gain from claiming their lands.
