Laval

Laval is a fairly well-known forest planet just a few systems away from Zenricho. It is known for its loose government, scattered colonies, and maple syrup producers.

Geography

Laval is a forest planet, classified by its full-surface temperate forest. The planet has valleys, hills, lakes, and rivers, but trees can be seen in every direction. Oak and maple trees are the most common trees on this planet, but pine, aspen, hawthorn, and birch are also common. 
Laval has no cities but is instead settled with various colonies across the planet. These towns are linked with roads, which are often in disrepair. Most buildings are built on the side of trees or along carefully aligned roads to preserve trees. Maple farms are located close to towns and lumber sites are created far away from them. Laval has a lax government and very few spaceports, leading to very little planetary management and long days of travel between settlements to get off-world.

Natural Resources

Laval is covered in trees, making it a great source of lumber. However, despite Laval's lax government, the laws for cutting and processing trees are incredibly strict. Three sites are allowed at a time; each one can only last for one year before trees must be replanted and the site moves at least fifteen miles away from any previous sites. Maple syrup farms are far more common, and maple syrup is a well-known product from Laval.

History

Laval was discovered and settled around 1500 BPC by people from various nearby planets. The settlers on the planet were originally governed by those other planets, but eventually came be self-governing. Since its establishment, Laval's government has always been loose, relaxed, and without stress. Its strictest laws protect the planet from off-world management, deforestation, and economic collapse. Laval is meant to be a peaceful planet, one without an army or ambition. People come to Laval for a relatively easy and predictable life.
IPA representatives from other planets despise Lavan senators because they do not much care for political machinations. Also, none of them can be bribed, coerced, or swayed to one's side without a reasonable argument. Jaquean senators love them.

Climate

Much like Xyan and Geranium, Laval has a climate that changes according to the seasons. Each season is split almost perfectly with the Galactic Standard Calendar. Rainfall is frequent and storms cycle the planet in relatively predictable patterns. Summer temperatures reach about 90 degrees Fahrenheit and winter drops to about 10.
