Deity
A deity, also known as a god or power, is an immortal being in Toriel with immense power. Each god possesses an aspect of reality that they control or represent, known as a domain. Domains can typically be described as simple concepts such as "the sea," "deception," or "wine."
Description
Most deities, particularly those of intermediate ranks, hold sway over specific aspects of mortal affairs, referred to as the god's portfolio. A god's power is contingent upon multiple factors, including the original might of the being that ascended to godhood, the scope of their portfolio, the blessings and boons they receive, and the number of devoted worshippers they accumulate. The mightier the being that becomes a god, the greater their power as a deity. A broader portfolio allows for a wider range of boons and divine abilities. Moreover, the more worshippers, prayers, and cults a god garners, the more their power grows. Worshippers are a fundamental requirement for a being to be recognized as a true god, differentiating them from mere formidable forces to be feared or respected. All gods in Toriel are immortal, as their divine nature grants them eternal life. While some of these beings exist primarily in an incorporeal state, others live a more tangible existence. Immortality provides them with resistance to illnesses and injuries, yet it doesn't make them invulnerable. These immortal beings reach a point of maturity and essentially stop aging, rendering them immune to death from old age. Despite their longevity and divine status, their power varies, and not all immortals are overwhelmingly mighty compared to mortals. Even achieving godhood doesn't always guarantee superior strength. While gods are powerful and possess abilities beyond mortals, they are not omniscient nor omnipotent. Their powers are vast, but they have their own limitations and constraints.Gods
The gods are in a constant state of flux, engaged in unending struggles for power. Their domains can be challenged and taken over by other gods, or they might meet their demise in battles. Similarly, mortal beings who have achieved greatness through heroic deeds and worship can ascend to godhood, carving out new domains to rule over. The dwarves of the Ice-peak Concord exclusively worship gods of unknown origin, hoping that these deities are "true gods" in their perspective.
