Kiennavalyriss

Goddess of wisdom and knowledge

Kiennavalyriss, a demigod born of a Dragon and Julianos, god of wisdom, inherited her parents' duty to protect a vast library of knowledge. After her mother’s Death and as her mortal body failed, Julianos sacrificed his divinity to save her, making her the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. Now, Kiennavalyriss zealously safeguards the library, limiting access to its secrets after the Great Extinction to prevent misuse of its power.   Kiennavalyriss's commandments:
  • Safeguard the wisdom passed down through the generations, for it is a sacred duty to protect the library of the past from those who would misuse it.
  • Seek to understand, but always with humility, for knowledge is a gift that requires wisdom and responsibility to wield.
  • Do not seek what is forbidden, for some knowledge is too dangerous to bear and can corrupt those who attempt to possess it.

Characteristics

Physical features

Those that have survived an audience with Kiennavalyriss report that she is an elegant and imposing dragon. The scintillating pattern of her opalescent scales is magnified by the intense illumination within the Alabaster Halls, and she bears a Celestial heritage that shines brightly within her eyes.
Kiennavalyriss take on the guise of mortals to guide her follower. Among those guises, one is her favorites:   Taking the shape of a Tiefling woman, she enlight those looking for knowledge. Bright pink hair tied in twobuns behind her horns, reaching to her hips, her eyes shimering in pools of colors. Golden jewerly encasing the base and tip of her horns.

Abilities

Though loathe to engage in a fight, she none-the-less is prepared to defend the potentially dangerous lore that exists within her library. With the knowledge at her disposal, she is a formidable spellcaster. She uses her lair actions to seal exits, separating her opponents from each other or forcing them into smaller spaces where she can catch more of them in the area of a single spell. She uses her remaining spells to thwart any attempts to plunge her surroundings into darkness and to dispel the Magic of her enemies.   If the potential threat posed by losing a small number of titles from her collection is not significant, or if she feels that she might easily recover them, Kiennavalyriss will flee if her foes begin to get the better of her. Her command of the doors within the library provides an easy and expedient escape. Only when the lore at stake is of grave import will she battle to her last breath.

Lair

Kiennavalyriss' lair, the Alabaster Library is the greatest library of Toriel and the planes, and sit in Venya the third heaven of Mount Olympus. The library is magically warded against intruder, and the goddess herself walk through its hall.   The rooms and hallways in her library are small, cramped, and narrow to make it more difficult for adventurers and other would-be plunderers from sneaking past her. The entrance to the library, as well as her personal chambers, are warded with a silent alarm that alerts her to visitors and intruders alike. Finally, the library is brightly lit by shimmering motes of arcane energy.

Wealth

Unlike many other dragons, Kiennavalyriss does not hoard wealth. Her treasured possessions are the countless books, scrolls, clay tablets, and other assorted writings that she has recovered and collected over her many millennia. The secret histories of countless mortal races are written upon them. There are ancient spells, dead languages, and the true names of devils hidden upon the shelves of her vast library. This collection also includes written copies of every conversation that Kiennavalyriss has had with visitors to her library.

History

Her mother, a dragon, is enshrined in many myths as the servant and romantic partner of Julianos, the god of wisdom and logic. Thus, Kiennavalyriss was born a demigod.   When her mother was cruelly slain by a band of malicious ratcatchers, the duty of safeguarding the library's lore fell to Kiennavalyriss. She studied tirelessly at her father's side, delving into the secrets and knowledge contained within the library's vast collection. However, the divine blood coursing through her veins slowly consumed her mortal form. When she reached her thousandth year, Kiennavalyriss realized her mortal shell was nearing its end.   Unwilling to see his daughter fade away, Julianos made the ultimate sacrifice. He transferred his divinity to Kiennavalyriss, fully relinquishing his godhood to save her. The transfer was a success, and Kiennavalyriss ascended as the goddess of knowledge and wisdom, free from the constraints of her mortal form.   This sacrifice deepened her zeal for her mission to safeguard the library's lore. She views the library as her father's enduring legacy and her divine duty to protect. However, in the aftermath of the Great Extinction, Kiennavalyriss has grown wary of granting mortals access to forbidden knowledge, knowing the dangers it could unleash.
