Támjol Eliodan

Támjol Brandeon Eliodan

The day someone satisfactorily explains to me why a Vosti necromancer with an Elven name is one of the Crown's favourite court mages, I'll eat my hat and boots in one go.
Támjol Eliodan is a Vosti necromancer who has been serving the court of Crown Larusion as a powerful mage since 415 AC.

History

Támjol is the only son of a minor Vosti noblewoman and is originally from the imperial capital of Shonyul. He left the country in 410 AC for the elven republic of Waal Zaimyatl, where he gained his elven first name and began practicing necromancy.   During this time he was known in cities such as Waal Paisheim as "The Red Medium" and offered his services to anyone with a ghost and some coin, taking advantage of a longstanding Zaimyalkee loophole. In 413 AC he was involved in solving the murder of Mayin Kalesdan, but was forced to leave the country when associates of the murderer threatened his safety.   After arriving in the Kingdom of Telziad he spent a few months wandering the countryside. He settled in an abandoned hut in the forest south of Sinofis and began to do minor acts of necromancy. This would have likely gone unnoticed if not for The Koshi Incident a small ways north, which brought most of the Sinofis City Guard to the forest. He was arrested, and while he could not be formally linked to the Incident, was charged with 4 counts of necromancy, 1 count of assaulting a police officer, and 1 count of trespassing on the abandoned hut.   Though he was found guilty of all offences and remained in prison for a few months, Támjol was pardoned shortly into the reign of Crown Larusion, after ███████████████████. During his pardoning, he was privately offered a position as a court mage by the new monarch, which he gladly accepted. He has served in this position for 10 years, working with the other mages to research and cast magic on behalf of the Crown and the royal family. In particular, his fluency in the Zangsayoi Elven language has seen him join royal trips to Waal Zaimyatl as an interpreter, and craft strong connections between the court and many of the foremost magic academies in that republic. He has likely also had a role in drafting bills regarding magic in the Kingdom, as have many of the court mages.

Social Ties

Támjol is deliberately vague about the identity of his mother, though it can be assumed her name is Elion due to his surname (Elio(n)dan). If pressed, he will state that the Skardels are the closest thing to a family he still has, with Paiyatl in particular being like a father to him. Paiyatl's extended family are among those Támjol has helped connect to the Telziado court, being from very high places throughout Waal Zaimyatl. Paiyatl's husband, the Marquis Gloreon of Skardel, is also of some importance in the Vosti Empire. It's not clear how Támjol met any member of this family.   He has been dating Vorim Kakaimal since 422 AC, having met him during his initial time in Waal Zaimyatl and rekindling their friendship during his royal trips to the country. Vorim has since moved to Sinofis and taken a position as a court mage alongside Támjol, specialising in fire magic.   He is accompanied by two ghosts, who he can see due to his Ashiel condition. The first is Brasteon Dovaldun, a murdered Vosti nobleman, and Mayin Kalesdan, the woman whose murder he helped solve. He does not talk about their presence openly, due to the perception people have of those with his condition and of necromancers overall.
