Alpha Canarai B V
Ice giant planet located in the Alpha Canarai System, which is owned by the Hyperion Federation.
Alpha Canarai B V is the 5th planet orbiting Alpha Canarai B, the class G star of the system. This world is significant because unlike most ice giants it interestingly has even heavier elements in its atmosphere. Every element in gaseous state from hydrogen to sulphur can be found on the planet. This has become subject of much scientific investigation due to this, and some theories suggest that many asteroids have burned up in its atmosphere, the composition being released into the ice giant.
The planet is also located closer to the star than its temperature would suggest. Some speculate this is due to most of the incomming light somehow deflecting from the atmosphere, only letting a small amount of light through.
During the suon-saelian war, the United Nations of Tebburus had no idea of the scientific value of Alpha Canarai B V. They were highly excited to study it of course when they found out (after driving the Saelians out).As the federation values scientific advancement so much, they have placed a large number of automated defences in orbit of the planet and have almost religiously refused to mine the world. Other than experiments, the planet itself has almost been left in its natural state.
