Alpha Canarai A II
Planet located in the Alpha Canarai System, which is owned by the Hyperion Federation.
Alpha Canarai A II orbits the class A star in the system, at a relatively short radius, meaning it has a high surface temperature. It is quite rich in metal ore, but the planet is surprisingly small. Some call it a dwarf planet, but it has still been designated a name following the planetary naming scheme.
As it is so small, it has a low gravity (0.6g). This means it has no atmosphere which makes it easier to mine on (if it wasnt a lava planet). Also, as it is so small the object has a lower value compared to other lava worlds as the similar ore density combined with reduced volume means reduced total ore, but that does not stop the HF from extracting useful metal from the lava content.
The world is also more geologically active. This combined with the temperature make it deadly to mine on, but the HF has well-reinforced equipment that are designed to withstand much worse conditions than would normally be experienced. This protects them in various extreme conditions up to even complete burial. There has been one mine which was split in half due to a tectonic plate movement, but all workers were evacuated long before the collapse.
They have, though, also defended the world autonomously. Its defence platforms are designed to automatically engage any target without the correct IFF, but before it attacks it scans the object in question to make sure it is not an asteroid. They then send alerts to the HF military.
