Ranivik, Walled Garden
Where is Ranivik?
West of Inadagedyn and Inaildoro, south of Danundseer, and north of Vesra. Ranivik is a rarely visited place despite its population and some maps erroneously disinclude it.
How is Ranivik classified?
Benevolent. Ranivik is sometimes given as an example of a Model City, in fact. It has a taut urban fate that maintains its xenophobic bitterness in good peace.
What kind of population and economy does Ranivik have?
Ranivik's grasslands economy is not quite self-sufficient, much to the bitterness of the locals, who would rather turn away every caravan and never interact with the barbarians who dwell in every theome but their own beloved city-state. As such, the economy of Ranivik is something of a mystery. How the local land-god has managed to build up even a moderately sized town of people is also a mystery. Surely people don't immigrate to a place that finds them repulsive! Do they?
Rumor has it that they do, and the people who integrate in this place also have kids. The farmgons and craftsgons of Ranivik somehow maintain a growing population in their town, where they try their bitter best to recycle everything and extract every scrap of value from every purchase so that they can refuse as much contact with outsiders as possible.
Who is the land god of Ranivik?
Nobody knows, save those who live here and presumably the other land gods of Theoma. The land god of Ranivik has big temples where the locals worship the approved local religion, but refuses to interact in any way with people who are not Very Faithful People of Ranivik. Geomancers usually consider the land god of Ranivik profoundly irrelevant, as not an iota of magic power has ever been given to a geomancer by this land god.
Querent-Querent doesn't know who rules in this place. Sometimes outsiders are afraid of this unknown land god, who seems to have some means of attracting people who would fit in here, and all of the VERY few people who ever emigrate from Ranivik seem to uniformly keep some manner of geomantically-significant oath to never speak the name of Ranivik's land god.
One of the few things known about the land god of Ranivik is that their hatred of necromancers extends even to a hatred of gargoyles. This is a profoundly unsafe theome for gargoyles to ever visit, as the local inquisition considers them something to be exterminated.
What is the Fate Beacon maintained over Ranivik?
The healing beacon over Ranivik is a beneficience to all Theoma. Biological processes are unusually well-protected in Ranivik, where nobody ever dies, and a small fragment of this healing potential is exported everywhere to help all the land gods maintain the health of Theomans.
This is one of the examples of a theome where the theome itself is disreputable, but the beacon is considered well-loved. Almost nobody ever travels to Ranivik for the purpose of rejecting a Healing beacon.
