Classes

The warrior is the classic fighter.   

Career

Qualifications

If you’ve never played a tabletop RPG before, the warrior is a good class to start with. Your powers are straightforward and you have plenty to do in any scuffle encounter.

Career Progression

Warriors gain the following powers at the specified level.  
LEVEL 1
Starting Talents
You gain a D4 in two of the following talents: Archery Style, Dual Weapon Style, Single Weapon Style, Thrown Weapon Style, Two-Hoofer Style, or Weapon and Shield Style. You also start with a D4 in Armor Training and the Oath spell.
 
Weapons Groups
Bucking, plus any three of the following: Axes, Bludgeons, Bows, Heavy Blades, Lances, Light Blades, Pole Weapons, Spears, or Staves.
 

LEVEL 2

New Talent
You now gain a D4 one of the following ability focuses: Keen Knowledge: Military Lore, Special Skill: Riding, or Special Skill: Climbing. If you already have one of these talents, you could upgrade it instead.
 

LEVEL 3

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 

LEVEL 4

New Weapon Group
You learn a new weapon group of your choice.
 
Stunt Bonus
You can strike so fast in combat that your weapons are a blur. You can perform the Dual Strike stunt for 3 stunt points instead of the usual 4.
 

LEVEL 5

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 

LEVEL 6

New Specialization
You may choose one specialization for your class. You gain a D4 of its specialization talent and its benefits.
 

LEVEL 7

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 
Stunt Bonus
You know how to unhinge your opponents. You can perform the Threaten stunt for 1 stunt point instead of the usual 2.
 

LEVEL 8

New Specialization Talent
You gain a D8 in the specialization talent you gained at level 6.
 
New Weapon Group
You learn a new weapon group of your choice.
 

LEVEL 9

Expert Strike (D4)
You know when to strike with precision and when to strike with power. When you make an attack with a weapon belonging to a group you possess, you can roll this die in addition to your Body die and use the highest result. But you have to downgrade your Body die. Or you can upgrade your Body die and downgrade this die.
 
New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 

LEVEL 10

New Specialization Talent
You gain a D12 in the specialization talent you gained at level 6.
 

LEVEL 11

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 

LEVEL 12

Veteran (D4)
Persevering through long hours of practice and many bloody encounters has made you a fearsome combatant. When you inflict damage with an attack, you can add this dice roll to your damage total.
 

LEVEL 13

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 

LEVEL 14

New Specialization
You may choose one new specialization for your class. You gain a D4 in it and in its specialization talent.
 

LEVEL 15

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 
Quick Strike (D4)
You can make a melee attack vs. an adjacent opponent as a minor action. The attack roll and damage of the quick strike suffer a downgrade. This action cannot be combined with an expert strike.
 

LEVEL 16

New Specialization Talent
You gain the D8 degree in the specialization talent you gained at level 14.
 

LEVEL 17

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 
Stunt Bonus
You can sweep opponents before you. When you perform the Dual Strike stunt with a melee attack, you can hit two secondary targets instead of one. All three of your targets (the original target and the two secondary targets) must be adjacent to you either when you made the attack or after you’ve used the Skirmish stunt to move next to them.
 

LEVEL 18

New Specialization Talent
You gain the D12 degree in the specialization talent you gained at level 14.
 

LEVEL 19

New Talent
You gain a D4 in a new talent or upgrade a talent you already have but didn’t use in the last adventure.
 

LEVEL 20

Epic (D4)
Pick one type of stunt (scuffle, exploration, or roleplaying). You gain the roll of this die as a bonus when generating stunt points of that type.

Perception

Purpose

You can use this class to represent any kind martial pony. Your pony could be an ex-soldier, a caravan guard, a mercenary, a member of a militia, or a former blacksmith turned adventurer. A warrior may fight for honor, glory, revenge, justice, money, or a better tomorrow. Some members of the warrior class have received formal training and others fight by instinct; all can handle themselves in a fight.

Tools

You have access to heavier armor and more weapons than members of any other class, and you can dish out and take a lot of damage.

Dangers & Hazards

As a warrior you’ll usually find yourself in the thick of scuffles. It is often up to you to engage the hardest-hitting enemies, so the rogues and mage of the group have the chance to use their abilities.
