Kingdom of Teleucia
The Kingdom of Merchants
"Everything is greater in the Kingdom of Teleucia."The Kingdom of Teleucia is one of three major human kingdoms. They occupy the North, which is the entire continent of Teleuce with the exception of the Hestian Freehold, which is under Ciceronian jurisdiction. Their populace is known for their mercantile class, which has taken over the aristocracy, and their wealth, which they obtained from selling jewelry fashioned from gemstones found within the Kosmima Mountains.
Structure
The Teleucian government is structured feudally, with an absolute monarch ruling over many feudal lords. Each feudal lord personally delivers the taxes they collect at a certain part of the year. That way, the treasury is not overwhelmed with taxes in one month of the year and experiences inactivity for the rest.
Assets
The Kingdom of Teleucia is home to rich farmland, where they harvest many different grains. The most famous of these, which is barley, which they have spread to The Splinterlands.
History
The Kingdom of Teleucia was founded by Lygdamis I, the first king of the nation. They founded Stemma, along the River Anastasi. Little did they know that their nation would become quite prosperous in the coming years. Many years later, the king, Empedocles I, heard a proposition from the miner Scythas. His proposition was to build a mining city on the far-off territory of the Kosmima Mountains. Empedocles obliged, and, after a few months, a great influx of jewels occurred. These jewels were made, by artisans, into jewelry, which would be sold to foreigners for a great profit. Empedocles would give many thanks to Scythas, for their proposition, and how wealthy they were made by him. In fact, several of Empedocles's descendants would be named Scythas.
Demography and Population
The Teleucian population is mostly High Elves and Humans.
Territories
The Kingdom of Teleucia owns most, if not all, of known Teleuce. However, they have a competing territorial claim over Hephaest with the people of the Grand Duchy of Dionys and the Hestian Freehold. These are the two nations they border.
Technological Level
The Kingdom of Teleucia is the second most technologically advanced nation in the World of Many Names. The people have a fair standard of living, and exercise the use of many cooking technologies, like egg-beaters. They use siege towers for war, and are only second to the Kingdom of Ciceronia in terms of scientific and technological progress.
Religion
The main religion of the Kingdom of Teleucia is Ignisianism. The people praise the Eternal Flame, an entity that brought disparity to our world at the dawn of time, when the world was dark, formless, and unborn. The religion owns many establishments across the empire, and it's proponents, including the members of the Ignicy, possess a looming influence over the government.
Foreign Relations
The Kingdom of Teleucia is allies with any country that practices Ignisianism. This is, largely, an exaggeration, however, they rarely war against the Ignisian Kingdom of Ciceronia, not only because they are so strong. However, they are enemies of the Tharrian Polemarchy, who they have sought to purify in multiple wars called crusades.
May the Eternal Flame Light your Path.
