The World of Many Names

The World of Many Names is a world much like our own. It adheres to certain natural laws, is inhabited by animals and plants, and is a home of humans. However, not only inhabiting the World of Many Names is humans. There are also elves, spread far and wide across the land, for fear of persecution, and dwarves, hidden high up in their mountains behind palisades. There are even orcs, barbaric in nature, thriving off the art of killing and pillaging those who cannot defend that which they possess. The World of Many Names is a history of the actions of different members of these races, all acting with their own motivation. It is much like the history of Earth in that fate always has a say in what happens.   For while the dwarves mine high up in their mountain homes, the elves hide in their forest abodes, and while human kings sit idly, dawdling atop their thrones, orc warlords fight for gold, influence, and power. Many people in the World of Many Names have grabbed at power, only to lose it, for the world is a beautiful place, unless you enter the world of sentient life, in which case it becomes a maelstrom of betrayal and misery, rife with deceit and vying for power. For every light that shines brightly, there is an ocean of darkness, and for every lighthouse guiding boats through the sea, there is always countless others refusing to accept it.
