Obsidian Empire

The Obsidian Empire, as its name suggests, is a grand realm, steeped in darkness, both literally and metaphorically. Set in the heart of Vassago, it’s a landscape dominated by vast swathes of obsidian plains, giving the land a unique, dark hue. Towering mountains range the horizon, their peaks adorned with ancient, eerie castles that seem to pierce the perennially cloudy skies. Deep valleys host sprawling cities where the populace thrives, protected by formidable fortifications that have withstood the test of time. The darkness of the land is, however, less about the absence of light, and more about the enigmatic aura that enshrouds it, the shadow of its tumultuous history and the indomitable spirit of its people.

People and Culture

The denizens of the Obsidian Empire, known as Obsidians, are a testament to their land - enduring, resilient and steeped in enigma. They are a proud people, carrying the weight of their history with dignity and resolve. Much like the obsidian after which their nation is named, the Obsidians have been shaped by pressure, their character forged by the trials and tribulations they've endured over centuries.   The Empire is deeply hierarchical, ruled by an Emperor who wields absolute authority. Beneath the Emperor, nobles rule over provinces, commanding their armies and managing their territories with varying degrees of autonomy. A vast and efficient bureaucracy ensures the smooth functioning of the Empire, even as it maintains a tight control over its citizens. Despite the rigid structure, meritocracy is valued, and individuals can rise through the ranks based on their abilities.   The culture of the Obsidian Empire reverberates with echoes from its dark past. Art, literature, and music often reflect themes of struggle, survival, and triumph over adversity. On the streets, one can hear the melancholic melodies of the lute, or witness a theatrical performance of an ancient war, while the nobility enjoy the luxury of epic poetry recitals in their grand halls. These arts, while a reflection of their troubled history, also serve as reminders of their endurance and their capacity to rise above the darkness.   Moreover, traces of the Hazrad can be found scattered across the Empire, their advanced technology viewed with a mix of reverence and fear. These relics, though poorly understood, are often sought after for their immense power and potential. The Obsidian Empire, shrouded in shadows, remains a land of countless secrets, its true power and potential concealed beneath layers of obsidian, waiting to be unveiled by those brave enough to peer into the darkness.
