The Blackmail
The team gets to help one of their members. Magnar gets a shock when Anselma is threatened. What will he do?
Plot points/Scenes
The team get called to a meeting with the local Thieves of Frankia. They have been supplied with the movements of Anselma & their adopted son. It looks as if there is a threat where Magnar has to carry out a task for a group that works with the Bladed Pouch and been hired by the Baobhan Sith. They want Magnar to smuggle high grade opium into the local Bawdyhouse and sell it to patrons or his family will have a "Slight Accident". They call themselves The Lock Of Genoa and are from northern Italy. Known for being a ruthless crime family and links to various underworld individuals & groups.
This would just be the first of a couple of escalating problems.
The next they will threaten Magnar if their own dealer isn't allowed to muscle in with his 'family' into the bawdyhouse. If not then Magnar's family may be burned out of the house. At the same time they want the Thieves of Frankia and the Burgeaters distracted when these criminals bring in a new shipment at the same time where they bring in more opium and some Khat.
Escalating further Magnar will be told that his family will be killed if he doesn't get the Thieves of Frankia thrown out of Eschbach by planting false evidence along with completely hindering the Burgeaters, and killing Erdis de Sade the Sergeant-at-arms. The council may be threatened as well if local taxes are dropped to 2.5% on the bawdyhouse and overall 25% of the revenue from trade / taxes are diverted to the Lock of Genoa.
If these are investigated, the team will find that the Lock of Genoa is indeed a powerful crime syndicate and thoroughly nasty to boot. They may have to rely on the Thieves of Frankia as back up and to carry out all the tricks at their disposal to prevent the town & people being threatened.
They also find out both the Bladed Pouch, rebel Shadar-Kai and the Hags Coven are all providing cash & drugs to the Lock of Genoa. If the carrier for these can be stopped then it will weaken their grip on Magnar's family and Eschbach. On top of that, if the actual members of the Lock is rounded up and punished publicly in a brutal fashion, they can send the evidence of this to the higher ups of the organisation as a warning to stay away from Eschbach and it's inhabitants.
