House Applegarth
The Royal Family of Lacedaemon has ruled the planet for almost 70 generations, though nowadays they’re little more than figureheads.
Before they became royalty the Applegarths were a mob family, which makes some people joke, saying things like:
Nothing has changed, what was racketeering is now called tax collection.
The head of the family, King Nathan XI, usually counters this like so:
The people who say that would have gotten their kneecaps broken in the old days, now you just get audited. I would say that’s a win win situation.
Some people have tried to continue the argument, but they all ended up getting their kneecaps busted.
The truth is that they are far more benevolent and act in the interest of the people, than when the first of them was crowned. And Lacedaemon is more of a democracy, under parliamentary rule than it was in the old days.
