Personal history

Mahen was born from a Spirit Primordial and the energy of the stars of the Demon Realm.     For a long time, ce did not seek out other deities - ce was content to watch from afar and new stars to fill the sky. Eventually, the strikes of cer hammer drew the attention of Vouscu, the Deity of the larger Red Moon. They introduced themself, and invited Mahen to meet their sibling, Maenscul, Deity of the Sun. Mahen did, and both siblings were impressed by Mahen's work. However, ce did not like to reside in the company of others for long - and Maenscul rarely enjoyed being alone.    As the Divine Realm formed, ce crafted a workshop for cerself in a remote, mountainous region. Once again, they paid other deities little heed - though Maenscul, Vousu, and Nosu remained in touch.    Porscil was the first to actually visit cer domain, and entertained cer with various stories and tales from the mortal realm of demons. Mahen was mesmerized by these stories, and Porscil was happy to have such an attentive audience. Over time, a queerplatonic relationship grew between them. They bore a son together, Enaroy, who would become the God of Beast Hunters.     One day, Porscil told Mahen stories of a city founded by blacksmiths - as the Deity of Blacksmithing at the time, Mahen was curious enough to see the mortal city for cerself. There ce met Vaevoscus - a talented smith that believed weapons should also be works of art. Mahen fell romantically for this man, and spent some time living amongst the mortal smiths.    However, Mahen learned from cer mortal children that Vaevoscus felt no romantic love for cer in return - and when he admitted to this, ce felt a grief and rage ce had never known before. To keep from destroying the city wher cer mortal children lived, Mahen poured all of cer heartache into just one of cer three hearts. Ce cut it from cer chest and cast it aside - along with cer hammer, for cer love for the craft was too tied up in cer love for Vaevoscus.    Mahen returned to cer workshop - focusing on cer other arts and soon forgetting cer time spent in the mortal realm.    Until a new god, guided by Porscil, came to call - Soken, the God of Blacksmithing, born from cer heart fusing with a vein of iron ore.     Mahen knew him immediately - for who cannot recognized their own heart?   Ce pulled Soken into an embrace by means of apology. Surely, a deity born of a broken heart felt pain - pain ce had been so overwhelmed by ce had cut it out entirely. Soken had not come seeking an apology - he had simply wanted to meet the deity he'd been born from, after hearing stories from cer mortal descendants. But the easy acceptance eased his heart that was slow to trust - for while he did not know the heartache Mahen had poured into the heart that became him, the pain had still left its mark.    While Soken had hoped to learn more of smithing from Mahen as well, they both discovered Mahen no longer had the talent for it. Still, Soken built a forge of his own at the base of the mountain Mahen lived on the summit of - distrustful of others and their motivations.    Some time after this, Maenscul commissioned Mahen to create a gift for one of their partners - and when Mahen delivered the peice, ce saw Cegae, the God of Fire perform for the first time.    Mahen was enamored with the beauty and strength of the Fire God - leaving cer domain to watch him practie on Gavonar in the Demon Realm. Ce's throughts and art were consumed by thoughts of Cegae - but, while they no longer bore the pain of Vaevoscus's betrayal, they still had the memories. And the memories lent to fear - fear of rejection, or more betrayal.    It was Porscil that convinced cer to confess - and offered to help by showing Cegae cer work and telling cer of his reaction. Ce agreed, unsure what else there was ce could do. And through this, Mahen learned that Cegae has been as captivated by cer as ce had been by him - and the two soon fell into a romantic relationship.    Still, while happy to have built strong connections with other, Mahen prefers to remain in cer workshop most - letting cer work shine in cer place.

What a great article, naturally the world of love and loss with deities can be serious business. Amazing world lore, fantastic job!

Thank you! I ended up writing a lot of little lore for Mahen in my other SC articles, so this felt a bit like gathering everything together, ha ha!
