Iambus

An Iambus is a spelljammer built by the mercane to be used by bards.

Power Generation

Unlike most spelljammers, the spelljamming helm of an Iambus is slightly modified to include a built-in musical instrument. The music emenating for the steering of an Iambus can be heard throughout the entire vessel. This soothing music has the beneficial side effect of keeping crew members calm and speeding up the rate at which wounds heal, but comes with an equal downside in that the more tranquil crew are often caught flat-footed when attack, taking a moment to break out of the calming lull to respond to a threat.

Weapons & Armament

As vessels piloted by bards and other performance-inclined folk, Iabmuses and often lightly armored, which most containing just a few light ballistae with perhaps a single heavy ballista to round things out.

Additional & auxiliary systems

Many Iambuses are designed to resemble massive musical instruments, such as the standard model which resembles a lyre. These instruments can be magically manipulated by the helmsman and are often played as accompaniment to an onboard band or to signal an Iambus' arrival.
