Cuttle Command

The Cuttle Command is a spelljamming ship built by humans to serve as a command vessel during the First Unhuman War.

History

Following the alliance of humans and illithids that resulted in the creation of the Octopus, the human designers of those vessels then took many of the same principles to design a command vessel. While humans were not active participants in the First Unhuman War, many human-centric spheres were threatened by the battles and conflict. To help unify their dispirate fleets, the Cuttle Command was created to coordinate human vessels should a joint operation ever be required.   In this sense, the Cuttle Command was the human answer to the Imperial Elven Navy's Armada. However, the sense of unified purpose that defines the Imperial Elven Navy was found lacking in humans, and in the largest battle of the First Unhuman War that Cuttle Commands were used in, the vessels fought on both sides.

Propulsion

The Cuttle Command is not very manuverable due to the extreme length of its tentacles, which are required to keep the gravity plane low enough to hold all the heavy operating equipment stored on the vessel and to account for the vessel's unusual height, which is longer than it is wide. While the tentacles can be retracted in an emergency for faster movement, doing so radically shifts the gravity plane, which can cause nearly anything and anyone not strapped down to be thrown to the ground.

Weapons & Armament

While Cuttle Commands were designed for fleet coordination rather than direct attack, they were often equipped with a mixture of heavy ballistas, heavy catapults, and a jettison in the event it was directly attacked. In addition, the vessels were often staffed and captained by battlemages.
