Appointment
If a centurion sees a soldier with skills for leadership, they will take them under their wing and take responsibility of them. They are bestow a bronze staff by the centurion to show that they are promoted.
Duties
As second in command to the centurion, their duties are ensure that his commands are given out properly, along with ensuring that messages are delivered to him, disciplining the men under his command, and protecting him from threats to his life.
Responsibilities
Their man responsibility to make sure that the men are disciplined in camp and that all tasks are complete when orders are given.
Benefits
Optios have a better chance to reach the rank of centurion if they show the necessary requirements and have some sway over the men that are under their command.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Optios wear standard legionary uniforms and armor, but of wear a helmet with a two read feather on the side of their helmets. Along with a staff with brooze at the top of it to signify their authority.

Are unable to keep troops in line or fail in their duties.
