Rough Start
Not much is known about the early life of Kasval as he never really talked about his past to anyone. But is was believed he was a shepherd in his early youth as he had a way with them to do as he said. His accent also gave away that he once lived near
The Spine where sheep herding was a common thing. But everything else about him was a mystery as he had no family name nor anyone knew who his parents were. To everyone who knew him he was just a wondering minstrel trying to earn his keep. Say what you will about the story tell him as a dashing man, but when in fact he was but end of everyone's joke as they always picked on him due to his shy behavior and his stuttering. Often living instable or barns to sleep for the night as he struggled to make money as a minstrel as no one wanted to pay him as when he was put under pressure he froze and when ever he tried to play the crowed would often hoarse him to play. But why might you ask why someone was willing to go through all that if they could not play, well the fact was he could play and he often did it when he was alone or played for animals around him. He had a voice that was like thunder dipped in honey. Something that caught the eye of a theater troupe that was going through the town he was in and they hire him to join. He would of course only play behind the stage where he was comfortable though as he did want to go through the stress again from the crowed, giving the name of the "Songbird" as none knew it actually was preforming. Makin him gained a following even though no one had ever seen him. He also started to make friends in the troupe as well and some decent money to for once in his life. He was content with his current life and didn't seem to want anything else as he travel the land with performance after performance. But want he would not realize that life has a way to change there lives forever.
Unlikely Hero
It was all an accident one might say as Kasval was minding his own business in his wagon where he heard shout outside. Only to see guards running around everywhere searching for something or someone. He only came out once they were gone was surprised to find a man and a women hiding under his wagon. They seem to be frighten when he found them, but had a feeling that they were not dangerous criminals of any kind. Instead he lead them to a safe place and dressed up as performers to look like they were apart of his troupe. Though he didn't know them he was willing to help them as it was the right thing to do in his eyes. He didn't even ask them their names or why they were being chased. That would like that for a while until they were safe when it finally revealed that they where none other King Hendrik of Arda and Queen Kerena of Dania who had escape an attempt on their live at their own wedding! Which caused him to faint from the shock. It also surprised them when he found out that he was the famous "Songbird" they heard about. But it was here that quest to save the kingdoms had begun and Kasval was in the center of it. Though it not be heroic as many might think it was as most of the time they were just traveling from place to place secretly gathering noble loyal to the thrones to take back their lands.
Though during that time Kasval seemed to found a sense of courage in him for the first time in his life causing him act as a protector of sorts despite him getting picked on most of his life. But when danger was near he was there to protect the royals from harm. He had the backing of his friends at the troupe as well to act as a distraction to protect them. He would help both of them to fall in love with each other seeing that it was just a political marriage from the start. After many months of traveling together they managed to gather an army to take back the thrones ruled by the usurpers that lead to a small war. Kasval would go with them as well despite being in good hands as he had watch over them for this long so he might as well see it through. What most people do not know is that he actually took part in the Battle of Greenview despite him never fighting in his entire life. But more of a supporting role in is as when the army was wavering against the enemy it he who sang inspiration songs to regain their moral and carry out the day. It was after all this that he would be declared the first hero of the
Kingdom of Ardania. He would receive a few other honors as well such the being declared the royal minstrel and having the new royal family named after them as
House Kasval. It was from here on out he would go down in legend as a hero across the land for the rest of his day and long after he was gone.
Later Life
Kasval as a musician would be something also to take note of. As he as he would often play at many royal and noble gatherings now that he stay in the new capital of Asron off the
Kingdom of Ardania. No longer did he have to feel afraid to sing in front of people as he had the confidence to do so. He even had many of his old friends to stick around as well since they helped out a lot during their quest. It was then that he settled down with his sweet heart Evelyn who was apart of the troupe and took on her name of Hundel. He would even wander around the city time to time to play to anyone who wanted to listen to him often missing his time on the road. Which caused him travel the land once more with permission from the king and queen with his troupe and earning quite the large some of money as well due to his voice and fame. But eventually he would travel eventually stop as old age would finally caught up to him. It was also due to the fact voice was finally starting to lose its luster. It was here he would remain in the royal court for the rest of his day. Though it would not be a peaceful one as his life would be cut short far too soon.
It was during one of the many gatherings that he always preformed in the palace and seem to be sound. He had since began play with just his lute more and more as his voice began to fail him. He was still skilled at playing a tune, but it was never the same. His daughter, Lucia had begun to join him in his performance as she had inherited her father's voice and it was that of an angel to all who heard it. It was when he was taking a break that he saw something out of the ordinary as the young prince Joshua, the second child of the king and queen had left the room and was being followed by a suspicious character. Which lead him to follow them only to discover that is was an assassin trying to kill the prince. It was here once more that he defend a royal once more with only his lute. But he was no match for the trained killer and was dealt a mortal wound. But the commotion attracted attention and scared the assassin off. For many people to find the young prince calling for help as he tried to stop Kasval's bleed wound. But many knew that his time was coming to an end when they saw it. As his daughter and wife stayed beside him, he only requested to had his lute and began to sing one last song with what little strength he had. It was beautiful yet haunting song that was working which would later be know as
A Late Goodbye. He would pass on a few moments later after he was finished as he died being a hero one last time. Afterwards he would be given a hero's funeral with thousands attending it, including the entirety of
House Kasval and what friends from his troupe that were still alive. He would be buried outside of the city on a hill he use to visit. With a tome built just for him and a statue to honor him. It was here that Minstrels would never be looked at the same again because of one who stood above the rest as his songs are still remember to this day.
