  Nothing is more fear across the land more then the Death Jaw as they are the epitome of certain death if you come across one in your travels. For nothing is more terrifying then facing a mountain of teeth in front of you. That is why these behemoths are unrivaled on the Continent of Dageth. For even they are feared by all who walk the land a know to stay clear from the if they can as all know that.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Think of it as a living hill that walks on all fours and can stand on it hind legs to become larger. It strong enough to level forests and can life things ten times its size with ease. Its bones are like iron to support its large size and its hide is difficult to pierce by even the most sharpest of blades.

Biological Traits

The beast's jaws are it most powerful tool as they are known to crush stone with the sheer force of them. Even look inside it mouth you can only see rows and rows of teeth with no end. Not even Dwarven craft can hold up against such raw power as it bends and tears it as if it were nothing.

Genetics and Reproduction

A Death Jaw only reproduces once a century and will lay a few eggs that takes a year to hatch. Often using their dung to incubate the egg to keep it warm while it hunts.

Growth Rate & Stages

It takes half a century for a Death Jaw to become a full fledged adult. With it staying with it mother for about ten years. During that time it skin in softer and it’s teeth are still growing.   But once it reaches ten years grows old enough to fend for itself. During this time they are much faster and stealthier then the adults and act as ambush predators. Siblings form the same nest will often become pack hunters to take down prey.   Soon enough they become bigger in their thirties where their skin begins to harden and their extra teeth begin to come in and pack will disperse They In the next twenty years their sense of smell expands and eyes sight worsens. Once that happen they become full grown and do as they please.   The older a Death Jaw becomes the stronger it gets as it muscles continue to grow over time and new teeth replace old ones as they become warn out. But one they reach their final years they will of find some place isolated to pass on as their bodies begin to stiffen and their strength wains. There have been many case where people mistake the corpses of Death Jaws to be large rocks.

Ecology and Habitats

They are often found in the High Forge Mountains and The Deep where they make their dens and hunt their prey. But once in a while one will travel to another part of the continent for better hunting grounds.

Dietary Needs and Habits

These beasts are highly aggressive hunters that will eat anything they come across and often devour it whole with their massive jaws. They have been know to each rock with minerals as well for digestion purposes.

Biological Cycle

Once every century a Death Jaw will go in search of a mate and will travel to find it. Their muscles continue to grow and new layers of teeth begin to grow to replace old ones.

Social Structure

Death Jaws often hunt alone and are solitary creatures that live by themselves. They often fight one another over hunting grounds and mating rights when the need arrives. When every you here something that sounds like thunder it probably a Death Jaw mating call or intimidation against a trespasser.

Domestication

It is possible to actually control such a beast as Black Bloods have managed to do so, though how remains a mystery. But the piles of bodies and remains often show that its is never an easy task to make

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Their hides are incredibly thick that they can resist dragon fire and Dwarven metal can only put a dent in it. Which is why it is often used to create armor and its teen are used to make weapons due to their durability and sharpness. Their waste is also valued as well as the minerals they eat are refined in their stomachs and can be forged into strong metals.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Death Jaw makes it home high up in the High Forge Mountains and in The Deep where it makes it den.

Average Intelligence

These beast are not the brightest creatures, they know that their size can be troublesome when hunting smaller prey that can easily outrun them. So they blend in to their environment by standing perfectly still as if they were rock itself waiting for something to come along and catch in with its teeth.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sight: Their sight is not that great and they can only see partial as their sight is based on movement.
 
Smell: It’s extraordinary as they are able smell things from miles away and tell how animals are feeling by the orders they produce.
 
Hearing: Is decent as it allows them to hear prey coming near them in order to attack them when the time is right.
