Certhon Elfrune Character in The Realm of Beardsgaard | World Anvil

Certhon Elfrune

Certhon had grown up in Alfheim on the Blooming Isle, catching Cloud Blossoms in his mouth and floating above the treetops. He and the other children had always heard the lore of the true Giants, the Prime Giants, up in the walled snowglobe of Jotunheim, half a world away.   As he grew, he found he had a talent for runes and wizardry. He also dreamed of going on an adventure to learn more of the ancestors of his other half, as well as their air magic, but there was little real information about the Giants or how to get to Jotuneheim. So, he decided to wing it, starting out on his 100th birthday, much to his mother's horror.   Certhon never did have the best head on his shoulders, but his sweet face and charm got him far most of the time. The journey north through the Vale of Aduial into Svartalfheim] (location:e96c1988-5a7a-4e84-a5ba-debe586c3626) and up through the @[Knife of Gawad was admittedly treachorous, but he finally made it through Fend Pass unscathed.   He stopped in the first settlement he found, freezing and hungry and lost. The Darkling Giants of Thôn set him right, but he was not much comforted by the massive shadow of a dragon that would occasionally pass over the mountain behind the town. They did fill him in on the lay of the land of Jotunheim, however, as well as the location of what should have been his intended destination, the capitol city of Glamrengwen.   Once he made it to the capitol, he found himself in posession of no idea what to do next. And then he met Nolwë. She was stunningly beautiful, and knew all there was to know of Giants, having studied history, lore and magic extensively. He fell deeply, hopelessly in love before she even opened her mouth though.   In time she grew fond of him as well, and had a daughter together. Certhon never said it, but he never was able to get used to the cold in Jotunheim, and desperately yeared to return home. Framing it as a beautiful place to raise their daughter, he suggested they make the journey to Alfheim. She agreed, and they set off in the early 1800s.   Neither they nor the child was ever heard from again, although some shredded yellow cloak was found later by hunters in Fend Pass.
