Dissolvers

The Dissolvers are not a traditional Tiderider family. Rather, they are a collection of disenfranchised freesailors united in a common hatred of the conduit system, which they see as an attack on a way of life thousands of years old. After Kezlaf became the Uniter, many refugees from unnatural disasters joined the Dissolvers in opposition to the tyranny of his rule.

Public Agenda

Their objective is to preserve island autonomy, eliminate all disruptions to freesailing shipping routes, and thwart the Unity's expansion of power.

Assets

Unlike a traditional Tiderider family, the Dissolvers permit their members to retain ownership of their boats. The organization counts only Delu's mother ship, the White Ducks, as an owned vehicle. They maintain a land-based hideout on Aktergea, where they store "liberated" goods and other contraband.

History

Although Delu had been gathering like-minded followers for several years after her family's collapse, the Dissolvers did not exist as an organized fleet until 2009 Vol, when she acquired the White Ducks. The presence of a mobile base of operations allowed them to better plan and supply sabotage missions, and they became a significant problem for the Unity. In response, Kezlaf established the Wringers to track down potential saboteurs.
Dissolver activity decreased until Delu realized the potential applications of powdered keetwood as an aura-masking agent. She set up a hideout on Aktergea to ensure a steady supply of keetwood and to store whatever wealth the Dissolvers had earned or stolen.  After that Dissolver activity steadily increased, reaching a peak in the late 2030s and culminating in the Dissolution of the Unity in 2040. After their victory, the Dissolvers saw a sharp decrease in numbers, mostly from the exodus of rescued islanders who felt their goal had been accomplished. A core fleet of tideriders remained, however, and Delu kept the Aktergean base active.

Disbandment

The Dissolvers ended as an organization four years after their victory. Ignorant of their presence on Aktergea, the Unity's Dregs chose that island as a base to plan their efforts to retake Mraydor. Since their discovery was certain either way, Delu chose to alert the Allied Isles and prepared to abandon the hideout. The evacuation was still in progress when they were discovered. The Dregs launched projectiles on the escaping ships, and the White Ducks took a disabling hit. Several of the crew were killed, including Delu. Most of the remaining Dissolvers left the fleet, joining other Tideriders or accepting the clemency offered by Alcendis Varenonde. Not all former Dissolvers have been accounted for, however, including the medic who developed the keetwood recipe.
