Aktergea

Aktergea is a tiny volcanic island at the southeast edge of the Cluster Islands. Despite its small size, it is economically valuable as the primary source of keetrock. This mineral, dissolved in runoff from the island's volcanic peak, is absorbed by the keetwood trees coating the eastern flank. Lumber camps work a sequence of terraces, cutting trees to send to the refineries located at Aktergea's northern point, and from there shipped to the rest of the cluster. Drinking the mineral-rich water has an oddly deadening effect on the human body, and in high concentrations leads to Gorder's Arrest, fatal without immediate medical care. Residents of Aktergea who leave the island for extended periods of time experience withdrawal symptoms, and some report volatile mood swings.
