Astrology

Astrology is a traditional magical science. Emperor Viktus had a deep fondess for astrology and chose to use the star signs to represent each month in the Argosian Calendar. Somewhat ironically, the rise of public awareness of star signs also lead it's devolution from a science to a pseudoscience as the field became dominated by hobbyist folk astrologers more concerned with divining personal horoscopes and star-approved love matches.

Elements

The elements are powerful arcane sources. Fire is connected with drive and willpower. Air is associated with community and conceptualization. Earth is connected to the practical and the material. Water is associated with emotion and empathy.

Modalities

The modality of a sign is determined by it's position in the season it is found in. Cardinal signs are the first of the season, fixed is the heart of the season and mutable is the final month of the season.
The cardinal signs are seen as the leader of the season and of the element. They enact change. The fixed signs are resolute and traditional. They endure. The mutable signs are flexible and resourceful. They adapt.
