Avienne
A central country of the Midlands, Avienne was Elven land even before the days of the Helvenic Empire. Never conquered by Helvenia, the elves of Avienne nevertheless were strong allies and trade partners. The two nations worked together to push the giants out of the Midlands, and the elves were credited with teaching the humans of Helvenia the secrets of arcane magic.
The mixing of Human and elves produced mixed settlements, and eventually grew into a full nation, ruled under by the elven monarchs. The "Beautiful Country" as it came to be known, was known as a center of arts, culture, and magical knowledge, even by its enemies.
Culture
The mix of elven and Human aesthetics that flourished in Avienne set mcuh of the cultural tone for the Midlands and beyond. Artists were held in high regard. Competition between nobles to patron the best artists could be cuthroat, but so to between the artists themselves. The Grand Museum in Hi'Viel is often creditted as the first collection of art open to the public in history.
