Étan Sparg

Sitting in one of the corner booths are three men, all buff and sneering. The one that looks to be the leader of the group is a tall man of muscular build with shoulder-length blond hair. He's wearing some common clothing, but it's all bulky from the armour barely hidden underneath. A small amulet glitters around his neck. The way he stares at you, you can tell that he isn't impressed, and he leans back, slouching into the chair.   "I'm not here to do business with you, so kindly get out of my way." his voice booms, and he begins to try and shove past you on his way out of the inn.

Personal history

Étan Sparg was born to into the religion of The Dragon Heresy, as both of his parents still worshipped the Golden Dragon in secret. They were both craftspeople, with his father being a tinker and his mother an apprentice brewster. He lived happily for a long while, being taught his father's trade as he grew up. But a crackdown on religious heretics when Étan was fifteen got both of his parents arrested on suspicion of heretical activities; when it was discovered that these claims were true, they were sentenced to death by hanging in the town square. The experience turned Étan into a violent criminal, forcing him onto the streets and making him do illegal tasks for coin.   One day when Étan was twenty-two, he was visited by an emissary of the Golden Dragon, an aspect of Etheric, who gifted him with his abilities and told him to spread them far and wide. So he left his small village and travelled to the capital, falling in with a group of other Dragon Heretics and quickly becoming their leader. It was him who bought Geort Adanar and Kal Galdur's freedom from the Arena and brought Geort under his wing as a paladin. When Geort ratted out the Heretics to the guard, Étan was able to escape, taking Kal and Zarin Lapré with him. This led to the trio making their way to Plainér Town to summon assistance in the form of elementals, drakes, and even a baby dragon.   The group was discovered at the Inn of the Broken Sword by none other than Geort himself, and in the ensuing conflict all three members of the group were killed.

    Morality & Philosophy

Étan thought of the world as a complicated mess of evil people, hence his zeal in bringing about the dragons necessary to "cleanse" it. He cared little for the lives of anyone other than his associates, and even then he thought of them as disposable in the end.

    Personality Characteristics

    Motivation

Étan was certainly one of those people who want to watch the world burn, although he rarely said as much. He felt that The Gratic Empire and its various peoples had wronged him so badly that they deserved to be cleansed in dragon fire.

  • He knew a significant amount about history and religion, having learned much about those subjects as a child.
  • He was also adept at making and cracking codes, which he used from time to time.

    Religious Views

He was deeply religious, relying on the Golden Dragon for his power and his influence. He prayed three times a day, and he commited horrible deeds in the Dragon's name.

    Social Aptitude

He wasn't particularly charismatic, but he was remarkably good at influencing people and persuasion. He was very confident, being self-assured that his goals would be completed sooner rather than later. He wasn't afraid to let people know that they had disappointed him and engaged in loud, reckless behaviour. He had reasonably fine manners considering his common origins and his previous occupations.

    Speech

He had a low and booming voice.

    Wealth & Financial state

Étan never had much money, and he got used to getting by with little coin. Close to the time of his death, he had been funded by a pair of merchants associated with The Nine Daggers, who had helped him pay for the summoning of some creatures from the Womb of Wyrms. He rarely had more than a few gold coins on him at any one time, so he didn't spend much.
