Blue Path Mine; dungeon
The dungeon is the interior of Blue Path Mine, located to the north of Hazegate. A week prior to the arrival of the party, a feral demon made its way into the mine, rampaging through the tunnels killing multiple miners in its way and causing cave-ins. The demon in question is a Felstalker, an aggressive hound-like demon that is blind but has a strong sense of smell. The creature has turned the lower level of the mine into its hive, having birthed a few Felstalker Broodlings already. The Miner's Guild has a quest out for anyone who can clear out the demon stalking the mine.
The demon's presence also attracted a group of kobolds that have barricaded a section of the mine. Although the kobolds will not outright attack the players, they will not allow them to cross their territory without a fight. The players are not required to clear out the kobolds but will find themselves having to head into their turf in order to progress.
Outside of the mine, a member of the Miner's Guild awaits the players. This is the overseer of the mine, going by the name Tarvis Bulgdo. He will give the players a rundown of the situation, informing them of what exactly happened. He will tell the players that the demon can be found in the lower part of the mine and that the kobolds have blocked off a part of the ground level. He will also give each player a lantern that they can put around their waste. With the mine being deserted a week ago, all torches on the walls of the mine have gone out, meaning that the players will have to rely on the light of the lanterns in order to clear the mine.
Main Goal: Slay the Felstalker in the lower level.
Optional Goal: Clear out the kobolds.
Occosiated Quest: Demon in the Mine
Recommended Level: 3-4
The lift towards lv-1 is broken, one of the cogs being damaged during the demon's rampage. Players can ask Tarvis if he knows of a way to repair the lift. The overseer will point out that there is a replacement cog stored in the building in the middle of lv0, the place where the kobolds are currently holding out. Tarvis informs the players that there is a way to sneak into the building through the strip mines, pointing out a couple of ways to enter those tunnels; including the one from the southern room. If the players obtain the gear they can easily switch it out, allowing the lift to work again. Alternatively, the players can fight their way through the kobolds and decent to the lower level through the tunnel on the east of the mine. Broken Machine
On the lower level, players can encounter a broken-down Warforged. This machine is part of the A Broken Machine event. It is located on the south side of the underground river craves. When players encounter the machine it will mumble to itself about its mission is to find very precious stones. If the players collect one of the valuable gemstones in the mine and give one to it, the Warforged will open its chest before shutting down, presenting the players with the Machine Core. Strip-mine Maze
In order to head deeper into the cave, the players can either find a way to cross the broken bridge, or they will have to follow the rail track. Unfortunately, a cave-in will halt their progression if they choose the lather. With the way blocked off, they must enter a section of strip mines that are layed out like a maze. If the players killed the Felstalker Broodling in the south of the map, they can move through it without any trouble. If not, they will hear a roar once inside the maze, signaling that the demon is hunting them in the maze. Given that the tunnels are very tight, they would have a tough time fighting the creature in the maze. Once the players exit the maze, they'll encounter another broodling. Once they get this enemy below 60% hp, the other broodling that was stalking them will catch up and join the battle. Lost Pendant
A path across the underground river on the east side of the mine will lead down, opening up to a spot overlooking the craves. On this ledge, a Green Glowing Pendant can be found. This pendant can later on be given to The Storyteller to strongly improve his opinion towards the party. Remaining Pup
After the players defeated the adult Felstalker in the final room, they may hear some noise coming from one of the nearby strip mines. Upon investigation, they will discover a Felstaleker pup. The creature is too small to fight the party and acts scared, growling at them while backing up to the end of the tunnel. If the players do not kill it, it will cause trouble for the miners later on, strongly damaging the party's relation with the Miner's Guild. Because Felstalkers grow rapidly, it will become as strong as the other Felstalker Broodlings. When the miners return to the mine, it will kill two more of them before being killed itself. If the players are level 4 or higher, enough time has passed for the pup to grow up into a Felstalker Broodling. If this is the case it will join its parent in combat.
Multiple Kobolds scattered around. When engaging a group of kobolds, reinforcements will show up every 1-2 turns.
