Demon in the Mine
A demon has made its nest in the depths of Blue Path Mine and needs to be cleared out. For this quest, players will need to present themselves to the Miner's Guild secretary Lucia in Hazegate in order to formally accept the quest and get some additional information about the mine. The receptionist will inform the players that the demon has invaded the mine about a week ago, killing some of the miners present at the time, luckily the rest of the crew managed to escape. With the demon occupying the place, the guild has put the mine on lockdown and is looking for a party of adventurers to clear out the place. The receptionist will ask the party to travel to the mine and meet up with a guild member there who oversees the mine.
The mine is located to the north of Hazegate, slightly east of West Basin Mine. Upon reaching the mine, players will encounter Tarvis Bulgdo, one of the overseers of the mine and the guild representative that Lucia told the party to meet. Tarvis will explain to the party that the demon appeared in the late evening, making its way into the mine from the front entrance. According to the miners that were working in the tunnels at the time, the demon killed a couple of the miners and made its way towards the lower depths of the mine. Since the demon’s appearance, other monsters have been drawn to the cave. Most notably a pack of Kobolds, who have set up camp not too deep into the mine. According to a scouting party that visited the mine a few days ago, the kobolds have barricaded a section of the mine, keeping the scouts from checking out the second level of the mine where the demon is expected to be hiding out. Additionally, a number of tunnels and passageways have caved in, likely due to the demon’s rampage.
The party will have to head into Blue Path Mine(dungeon) and find a way to kill the demon that has made it their new home. The players do not have to clear out the Kobolds, but Tarvis promises to send the Guild a message to increase the reward if the players manage to take care of them as well.
Once the players have finished with the dungeon, they will have to report back to Tarvis, who will give them a letter to take back to the guild in order for the players to obtain their reward.
In the dungeon, players can start the event A Broken Machine if they find the damaged Warforged on the lower level of the mine. Additionally, they can find an old trinket, an event item for later in the story.
Grander Scope
The Miner’s Guild already requested Hunting Brigade Quarters to take care of the issue, but they are spread too thin due to all the demon encounters. The Hazegate garrison refused their call for help as well. The head of the guard, Gilbert Boarhead, argued that he could not spare any man in case an assault would be launched by the stray demons on the capital. The captain remains adamant in his decision, even though the Hunters Brigade has explained to him that these demons would not possibly be able to cooperate in an assault on the capital. This quest can highlight the conflict between the head of the Hunter Brigade and the captain of the guard.Description
