Echen Crag

An impregnable mountain fortress held by Loyal Clan Echen  and House Antyre

Purpose / Function

Built by a high chief of the Antari clans centuries ago, Echen Crag was meant to symbolize the undefeatable spirit of the Untamed Clans.

Alterations

Each generation of rulers who have inhabited Echen Crag have added more or dug deeper into the mountain it's built into.

Architecture

The majority of the architecture here is old Antari stonework. Loyal Clan Echen have recently brought in Banteavan stonemasons and engineers to examine the citadel and see what can be done to improve it, but their survey indicated that it would take decades of work to modernize this fortress.

Defenses

Reaching Echen Crag alone is no small feat; narrow mountain passes are lined with watchtowers that can be manned with canny archers. Nets full of rocks are also held in place to be released when needed, causing deadly rockfalls upon poor infantry trying to march up to the Crag.  High stone walls and carved battlements in the side of the mountain cast an imposing shadow over the roads up to it, and should anyone be able to breach the front gate, they will find no end of twisting corridors and passageways, likely filled with a garrison that is ready to die defending it.
