Perdicum II

A spoiled, runaway prince who sneaks aboard The Psygorellius to escape his fate of being a political prisoner of his people's hated rivals - the Thricians.

Born the youngest of three Pellastradonian princes, Perdicus II will inherit his family's kingship over the Pellastrom Horns.

While his older brothers were vicious warriors and shrewd commanders, Perdicum II was a cunning boy who used his mind to outmaneuver his larger/stronger brothers in the palace.

One day, tired of feeling weak and powerless, Perdicum insisted on training with his brothers to get stronger. The brothers agreed, with devious intentions in mind.

Drilling shield formation among the ranks of their Hoplon Milita Corps, one of the brothers hurled a fake Marmaro grenade at their youngest brother. Startled, Perdicum dropped his shield and dove out of the formation.

Seen as a quaker, Perdicum was embarrassed not only before his men but his father as well.

To reclaim his honor, Perdicum challenged his brother to a duel. Not taken seriously, his brother (and even their father) laughed him out of the training site.

Bargaining Tool to Runaway:

After a particularly bad campaign that year, losing the Chaldikki Fork to the Thricians, the king gave Perdicum II as a political prisoner to the new ruler to ensure peace.

Deeply insecure and wounded from their earlier slight, Perdicum II refused to follow his father's orders and ran away from home aboard a shuttle heading to the nearby Anvil as an Aeonite shipwright apprentice named Acromon.

Never boarding a public shuttle in his life, he went on the wrong shuttle and ended up in the Thrician Quill instead.

Panicked, he stowaway on the nearest vessel. When he opened the hatch, the prince found himself traveling down the Bite by the Molastif Collar on route to the Barbarous Zone (see Topographical History of the Sector).

The shuttle was attacked by a Lyxfenoid Brood and brought down outside the Collar.

Scared and all alone, the young prince was found by Molastifs. The pack's tracker named Lycanon tried convincing their leader to spare the prince, confirming no scratches on the prince by the infectious beasts.

The leader wasn't swayed and was ready to kill the prince.

Refusing to let this boy died like his younger pup of a brother, Lycanon broke his collar and gave it to Perdicum II (symbolizing the breaking of his oath to serve the prince).

Released from the pack and now responsible for the prince's actions if he turns into a Lyxfenoid, Lycanon and Perdicum leave the collar and head down to the Dodonan Roots.

Stowaways:

Catching another shuttle (with Lycanon's help), the naive Perdicum and the pragmatic Lycanon arrive in the Dodonan Roots around the same time as Ulysses "Ollie" Dylos, AJM-001, Eucidrie and their Psygonauts arrive looking for the prophet of the sacred oak.

Overhearing their prophecy and knowing they'll be crossing the Kothrian Pass back towards his home cluster, Perdicum and Lycanon seek aboard The Psygorellius.

Once they're found out, Perdicum lies about their identities, saying he's a lost Aeonite shipwright's apprentice named Acromon and his traveling companion Durg.

The two help the Psygonauts cross the Taygestronese, even learning leadership skills from the trio.

That is until a Pellastradon recognizes Perdicum II and calls a bounty on the Psygonauts for kidnapping their prince.

Unable to just give the prince back to the horde of blood thirsty Pellastradons looking for revenge, the Psygonauts are pursued across the sector.

Learning from his life skills and the Lycanon's example, Perdicum II begrudgingly agrees to return home to be sent to the Thrician court as a political prisoner.

However, circumstances have changed and his older brother (now the king) allows Perdicum II to stay with the Psygonauts while they're in the sector with a gift of resources and two of his best warriors as bodyguards Rhal & Phal.

While their personalities clash with Lycanon, Perdicum II stays with the Psygonauts, learns everything he can right as the Taygestronesian Civil War breaks out over the sector.

Learning his family and cluster are in turmoil, he returns to the Pellastram Horns and gifts Rhal & Phal to the Psygonauts.

Will Perdicum II become the king worthy of his Greek Equivalent? Or will the stress of ruling a cluster during a major civil war be the end of the prince and his people?
