Operation Horizon
A multiple-front invasion of The Wilds by Digital Conclave forces.
The Conflict
Prelude
Since its origin, The Digital Conclave has been in an uphill battle against Nature to take back the ancient city. After careful planning, all settlements lauched an attack on the surrounding wilderness, burning and trampling plant and animal wildlife alike, and plunging deep into enemy territory finding little resistance.
The Engagement
At one point, the overconfident Conclave forces looked over their shoulders and realized they had underestimated their foe. Trees and underbrush were growing back at an alarming speed due to the phenomenon of accelerated growth, leaving them in small isolated groups, and they were being stalked by packs of furious beasts and wilders. They had to fight their way back home, and suffered severe casualties.
The disaster was in part caused by the inability of the different factions and corporations to work together, while Natura semed to easily coordinate her forces to strike at the weaknesses of Conclave troops. Albor cadres were ambushed and hit at range from elevated positions that the melee-focused crusaders struggled to get to, while heavy-hitting but rigid Stender servilon formations were immobilized in swamps and flanked, its technomancers quickly dispatched. It is theorized that had the Conclave organized and sent mixed units that covered each other's weaknesses, as well as properly investigated the nature of the territory they intended to invade, the operation could have gone very differently.
Outcome
The Conclave retreated back into its cities to lick its wounds and mourn its dead, while every path they had opened quickly closed and disappeared.
Aftermath
Traumatized veterans of the campaign still fear the shadowy woods, as many lost loved ones in there. Or even parts of themselves. For Nature is ruthless, and takes with violence as willingly as it gives.
