Ardent Corp.

Raving madmen. Berserkers. Psychopaths. Ardent doctrine holds the fierce belief that Chaos makes you strong. Unpredictable. Like fire. Nothing controls fire, not even itself.   Thus, the Ardent seek to emulate fire. Work as a team (or don't). Fire, as does a community, has a common objective (or doesn't), and each flame, each individual part, contributes to that objective (or doesn't). And they are ach distinct from each other. They are fast. They are clever. They can adapt to a changing situation. This is required to follow the plan. The plan is there is no plan. And that is the hardest plan to follow.   But we must.   Or we don't.

Structure

Originally led by a council of all fourteen veldheers, now a single veldheer for the whole faction that acts as a leader in trying times. For the most part, the faction follows no structure or leadership and each individual member or band acts as they please.   While the current veldheer of the faction is Iwisa, real power is shared between Meredith, his advisor, and Robin. The latter commands the support of a lot of people, but not enough to take power by force as Ardent custom dictates.

Public Agenda

The Ardent seek freedom to commit their own mistakes, and autonomy to not be dragged by the mistakes of others. As most internal factions of the Conclave, they do not seek the conquest of new lands and just wish to be left alone.   However, their economy heavily relies on raiding to gather resources, so nearby enemy settlements will never be completely safe as long as an Ardent draws breath.

Assets

The city of Clay and surrounding lands are under the direct control of the corporation. However, its agents and military forces are mostly self-governed and follow no commands.

History

In the aftermath of the First Conclave, several never-seen-before Stender tercio colonelcies marched into the Slaughter River Floodplains, Ardent territory, accompanied by primitive battle servilons and enough supplies to build a fortress around them. As Aubrey explained to her comrades of the Veldheer Council, this was all part of a mutually beneficial deal with the Conclave Government and the other factions. The soldiers were to provide security against rebel incursions so the Ardent could do what they did best, take the battle to the enemy doorstep.
