Aldonite

Roughly translated as "addition, extension" (meant as an extension of one's own arm), aldonites are unique weapons created by members of the Ardent Corporation, and their trademark items. As part of their rite of passage into adulthood, Ardent youth must craft their first personal weapon, imbued with their personality. They may later scavenge and use other equipment (even old aldonites created by long-dead ancestors), but their first one must always remain with them.

Manufacturing process

The forges of the great Clay workshop burn day and night, as metal molds and wood is made into stocks to form deadly armaments. Most Ardent favor ranged, explosive guns, but wicked blades with serrated edges are sometimes forged as well in the fires of the workshop.
The process begins at the sketch station, a terminal with a keyboard and drawing tablet where the desired characteristics of the weapon are listed and a rough outline is defined. The weapon is then built with the materials available and assistance from the workshop staff, and the owner is encouraged to try it out as soon as possible on the nearest thing that looks like it could use a few new holes.
