Natura

Natura (a.k.a. Naipi, Mboi, Taroba, Mother Nature, Gaia, Pachamama, World Mother, Terra, Anesidora)

Goddess (or god, in some cases) of Nature and all that comes from it. Conclavist military analysts agree she must have sway over every beast, plant and some tribals, as the surgical precision and organization of their attacks suggest some higher command giving them orders.   It is speculated she may actually be just a particularly powerful incarnation, around which a religion was formed.

Divine Domains

Life, Fertility, the Harvest, Nature, the Earth.   She is said to be the cause of earthquakes, storms and other disasters. Aditionally, every creature and most humans in The Wilds are at her call to smite her enemies.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To some, a cruel deity eager to collect sacrifice. To others, a mother caring to all. Or even a passionate lover. Speculation as to her nature (pun intended) leads in wildly different directions, but most agree she either wishes to protect the land or IS the land itself, and does not look kindly on those who would bring it harm.

Personal history

As legend has it, long ago the Wilder tribes around the Great River sacrificed a young girl every year to appease a terrible water deity. One fateful year, one of the chiefs fell in love with the girl, and after his pleas to select a different sacrifice were rejected by the elders, he decided to rescue her and run away together. As the two were escaping in a canoe by the river chased by the other natives, the serpent god found them and, enraged, laid waste to the whole area. The river overflowed, cracking the land in two, and the lovers were lost in the rapids and presumed dead. The deity, apparently content with the destruction caused, crawled back into the riverbed.   Centuries later, wild tales of a powerful entity in the site of their death started spreading among the tribes. Some fear the river god may be back, hungry for more souls. But that's not all there is to it. Theories suggest the entity may be either of the two lovers instead, forever seeking to reunite with its other half.   Or perhaps, it intends to claim revenge on those that separated them in the first place.

Gender Identity

Disagreement as to her origin leads to different perceptions of her gender, but she is predominantly thought of as female. There has been no opportunity to ask for her own oppinion on the matter.

Morality & Philosophy

Natura seems to harbor extreme hatred for incursions into her domain by civilization, and has been actively sending her forces into urbanized land in an effort to revert it back to a wilderness.
