Tympi, The Lost Magician

Tympi is a purple comet moth-like archfae and the ruler of Tympi's Forest.   In the story of The Tarot, The Magician is the first card after The Fool. Its position in the Tarot suggests something of a guide, and when considering the upright meaning of this card as something of Inspiration and Moving Forward with goals, Manifestation, or Resourcefulness, similar interpretations could be construed. As a "guide" Tympi would provide such inspiration and resourcefulness to any lost travelers she may have come across, and her connection between the Physical and Spiritual is also relevant.   When reversed, this Magician card instead suggests trickery, poor planning, untapped talents, all of which are not necessarily negative concepts though could be interpretted as such. When Tympi was freed from the jar that had imprisoned her for the past 50 years on Nurend 17, 308, many discussions of Fae and Trickery were being had, and these discussions continued even with her in the room. Further, the "Poor Planning" aspect of this part of the tarot can mean that goals are being followed, but with little to no signs of progress being seen. Perhaps her presence as a guide will provide some level of assistance in these uncertain times for the travelers.
Recent History
The Spiritual Travelers are aware that 50 years ago The Writer arrived looking for his sister. Shortly after this, Tympi announced she would be leaving the forest for a little while to help guide the writer through the gates with the hopes of finding this lost sister. However, something went horribly wrong and Tympi was taken by a dark spirit known as the Unblinking Sein. No one knows what happened to her, what this Unblinking Sein did with her, and the forests were thrown into chaos desperately searching for her, and then eventually, an heir.   A moot convened, an interim ruler was announced as Croak, a bullfrog that was also a close advisor to Tympi. He seemed to have what it took to run the place and peace was restored. However, Ilven, in her desire to run the forest as it was “rightfully hers” being Tympi’s sister and all, did not rest while Croak, from her point of view, “ran these forests into the ground.”
On Nurend 15, 308, Ilven revealed that she used The Unblinking Sein to abduct Tympi and "save her from herself". When she offered Tympi back to the Spiritual Travelers, Frode was the only one still able to see and discovered Tympi's "Moth Form".   The Spiritual Travelers came closer to saving Tympi than ever before, however, The Unblinking Sein was able to once again intervene, perhaps turning on its previous master, Ilven, and took both Ilven and Tympi to parts unknown. Now Ilven is missing and it is unknown what happened to Tympi during this as everyone was either blind or unconscious.
Late in the evening of Nurend 18, 308, The Spiritual Travelers found Tympi and freed her from the jar that had kept her prisoner the past 50 years. Many interruptions were experienced when trying to open the Gift that Logren had given them, including the Page of Swords and Blüdswurth, but Namina finally got the jar open to fined an exhausted and disoriented Tympi. Her vision was, as she said, blurry and dark, and she was constantly grasping her head in pain.   When a great deal of distrust was presented by some members of the group, Tympi offered what little help she could to show she was on their side. She offered her guidance, and when Frode mentioned not wanting to be in the city of Sin and Lights, wanting to be away from Blüdswurth and other complaints she offered to fix all of those things but needed her Lantern.
Tympi arrived back in the Mothlights on Nurend 19, 308. She will likely need a great deal of time to rest, but should hopefully recover without issue. That being said, the queen of this forest is again out of commission, and just in time for several new outsiders to arrive.
The Spiritual Travelers entered a massive spirit, the Howdigo, and began rescuing Tympi again on Daulok 25, 308 at the request of her sister, Ilven. They fought through rooms and hallways representing both their idyllic lives and the journey to get there while the Howdigo devoured these journeys using smaller spirits called "Contentment".   She was reached and reawakened on Daulok 27, 308. She was able to make what seems to be a full recovery and blessed the Spiritual Traveler with her light to protect them from the Spiraling Dark. While doing so, she gave them a strange message...or perhaps this message came from the source of her power, Ar'en'el. It's unclear at this time, but the message was most unusual.   "When you find Him, He will beg for death, but you cannot let Him die. Far underground, far to the Northeast, trapped beneath His own throne. Imprisoned by one of His followers. Bring Him to me when you find Him. Do not let Him perish."

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Some symbols used to represent her include a Mothlight Tree and the silhouette of a Comet Moth.

Holidays

Tympi's Disappearance date (Nurend 12) is often held as a date of contemplation and fasting for groups of Fae throughout the entirety of the Gates.   The week leading up to the date of her disappearance is regularly utilized by certain fae to wander through the forest and help any strangers in need.

Physical Description

Body Features

In her Mothling form, Tympi is 6 feet tall and takes on a more humanoid appearance as all mothlings do and her eyes gain white pupils. The white pupils of her eyes are unique to her as other mothlings usually just have a solid color for their eyes.   Her body is a soft, light purple color with a darker purple fur trimming her neck which matches her hair color. She has two dark antennae protruding from her forehead and a pair of wings growing from her back. These nearly black, purple wings are similar to her moth form. The trim and tails on the wings are a brighter, lavender-like purple, and each "eye" of the wings is shockingly white with a soft, powder blue pupil.   Her moth form is remarkably similar to her mothling form though much smaller as she has the appearance of a slightly oversized comet moth with a matching color scheme as her other form.
When Namina painted Tympi's Aura it was revealed to be bright indigo and magenta. Instead of the usual black sillhuette of the person she was painting, Tympi just had an orb of white light.

Special abilities

Moth Form - Tympi, like all mothlings, can fly and transform into her moth form.   Plant Conjuring - It was revealed during a strange dream experienced by the Spiritual Travelers that Tympi can somehow conjure forth plants as she was able to create a rose in The Writer's hand.   Light Manipulation - Tympi has demonstrated an ability to manipulate light. Even in her weakened state she was capable of temporarily keeping enemies at a safe distance and dispelling enough of the Unblinking Sein's darkness to give the Spiritual Travelers a fighting chance. She can likely do more, though this has yet to be seen. Using these abilities seemed to be incredibly taxing on her already exhausted form though.   Light Travel - Any Mothling or anyone deemed worthy by Tympi's Court is capable of entering the Mothlights as a means of either shelter or transportation to another Mothlight Tree. However, Tympi seems to be capable of traveling to the Mothlight Village without the need of touching a nearby tree. Her connection appears to be strong enough that she can at least enter her village and take guests from anywhere as long as she has her lantern. Though, while in her weakened state she was incapable of using this ability.   Life Creation - Tympi is capable of creating life, as evidenced by her many mothlings and the notes in her journal. It takes her a hundred years to make a new mothling "bloom".

Apparel & Accessories

Tympi wears a dress made from a variety of leaves found throughout her forest, but the most prominently displayed in this dress are softly glowing leaves that vaguely resemble those of a catalpa. These leaves were eventually revealed to be Mothlight Tree leaves.

Specialized Equipment

Tympi's Lantern - An item of great power capable of storing and amplifying Tympi's own light. She used it to push away enemies and keep the Spiritual Travelers from being consumed by darkness while they were helping her get home. She can also use this lantern to see most of her forest as well as Meli's Garden.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

A large portion of Tympi's History was discovered in her Journal.   Events of Tympi's past have been slowly revealed as the Spiritual Travelers deal with some Unanswered Questions.

Morality & Philosophy

Tympi believed in giving everyone a chance, not judging based on first glances, and being open to outsiders that aren’t posing an immediate threat. This was shown when The Writer first arrived in the Spirit World and she took it upon herself to show him the ropes.   Because of this, most Mothlings will act a similar way. They will see outsiders as friends that they haven’t met yet, leaving their Mothlight Trees to meet with the new people and learn about them while teaching them of the forest. They are easily impressed with new people and quick to trust unless the outsider does something incredibly destructive.
