Tympi's Lantern

The Lantern is a mysterious object obtained by the Spiritual Travelers on Nurend 16, 308. It was included with their gear during their escape from The Prison Beneath Thera Relovut thanks to an unknown ally.   The Lantern was described as having a handle large enough for someone to carry it rather than it being intended to hang from a pole or roof. The lid of the lantern has depictions of trees, moths, butterflies, frogs, mushrooms carved into its surface. A gentle light is constantly being emitted from the lantern, and it was decided that "we better keep it lit" while the Spritual Travelers were escaping Thera Relovut.   When first picked up by Namina, the Lanter showed a vision of someone else as she blinked rather than seeing darkness. She closed her eyes again to see what it was and was able to see a large glowing Mothlight Tree in the rain. A throne made of stone was seen stuck in the ground and being covered by the vines of this tree.   The next time she closed her eyes a different vision was seen. There was still rain, but rather than the ominous throne there was an Eadarling whereing a black suit with glowing blue piping and stripes.   Further blinking yielded still more visions, but the Throne was never seen again.
Agave also tried the Lantern, but the Throne vision never occurred for him either. Instead he saw another strange sight: a location in a forest somewhere with snow and rain falling. A small mushroom person waddled past the point of view carrying a basket full of flowers.
Tympi
After being freed from her jar and showing signs of disorientation, exhaustion and other symptoms, Tympi also expressed an inability to see. Her vision was blurry, growing dim, and while she wanted to get home to heal and let her people know of her return, she stated that she "cannot even see home." She expressed an interest in finding "her lantern", and that she "might be able to see home" if she had it. Before she utilized it, however, she requested some amount of trust from everyone in the room. Seeing that Frode was especially hesitant, she inquired what he needed help with, and, in an effort to remedy the listed concerns, reached for her lantern and blinded everyone in the room with a flash of light.   With this information in mind, it would seem that this lantern is some sort of magical implement used to help Tympi "see" the forest. Based on the visions experienced by The Spiritual Travelers whom spent very limited time with the item, it might be a lot easier for Tympi to filter out what she wants to see. Her inability to see very well after emerging from the jar may even suggest that she needs the lantern to see anything at all, or maybe she was just exhausted, who knows? Since the lantern showed visions of mothlight trees, the light emitted by them may be what allows her to see the forest, and the "areas she can't see", as mentioned by the Journal, dream and Page of Swords, may be places where the mothlight glow doesn't reach or cannot reach.   This Lantern could channel the glow of these mothlights to better perceive what Tympi needs or wants to see, and, as mentioned, could be her only way of seeing at all. Though it really is all speculation based on the available information.
It was revealed on Nurend 41, 308 that the lantern does likely have a bit of the Mothlight Tree light shining from it. Anvi, a member of Tympi's Court, was able to channel this energy in such a way as to cure the Uginot ec Mlet of their affliction.
