Page of Swords

The Page of Swords is an important character and ally to the Spiritual Travelers.   They were found in Tympi's Forest on Nurend 14, 308 near the location where Tympi was taken by The Unblinking Sein.   They are associated with the Swords suit of a Tarot deck in that they are involved with the mind, intellect, thoughts, attitudes and so forth. Most of the Swords suit disappeared long ago, but the Page of Swords still exists and has managed to survive through careful hiding.

Physical Description

Body Features

Their wings are moss-colored and their fur has a pattern that looks identical to moss and other forest detritus much like what might be found lying about anywhere. Their antennae are simple and black while their eyes are incredibly reflective, showing off the world around them and particularly any light source. Their “human” flesh is very pale.   Their wings and other moth features are similar to a Green Arches Moth

Apparel & Accessories

They have a simple green dress made of woven together elm leaves. They also are usually seen with their signature long coat which is a tan color. Unlike other mothlings, they tend to wear this coat over their wings which forces them to walk.   They don't carry any weaponry, instead preferring a pen and notepad. Their pen is a chunk of bark.

Mental characteristics

Morality & Philosophy

The Page of Swords is as much a person as it is a title. Their duty is to the word, the knowledge of the forest, and maintaining the history that it contains. They carry a pen and notebook rather than any weaponry, as their weapon against the forces that they fight against is knowledge.   They tend to wear their signature tan longcoat over their wings. This forces them to walk along the ground rather than fly. They believe that this will bring them closer to the clues they seek, and that walking brings their feet closer to any forest knowledge the ground might hold.   As a page they are a messenger. Their mission is to deliver information while keeping it safe. Along that path they also have a natural curiosity, a thirst for knowledge that drives them along their given path while creating new chosen paths.   Throughout the last 50 years their mission has been to find Tympi. They have many leads, but their primary suspect is Ilven. Their true goal will be to bring this information to light so that all can share in the knowledge they have obtained.

Social

Religious Views

Like many Mothlings, the Page of Swords regards Tympi as a being as close to a deity as one could get. Their worship of Tympi along with their quest to find her has provided a lot of drive for their current goal of finding her, almost to the point of obsession.   Their belief in Tympi provides them some of her teachings, namely that they should help all outsiders and treat all beings with the kindness that Tympi did.   Because of their relationship with Tympi and the fact that they travel The Gates, they are often associated with the Mothling Pilgrims.

Mannerisms

The Page of Swords is normally full of passion, enthusiasm and energy, but in the last fifty years they've been more withheld. They seem to constantly overthink any new lead or concept before forming it into a report, as such many have thought that they may have been abducted or died much like Tympi.   When meeting a new person, especially outsiders, some of their enthusiasm returns as seen when the Spiritual Travelers first encountered them. They like to ask as many questions as possible with hopes of revealing all potential information which can border on annoying. They are eager to keep things in motion, and with the arrival of these outsiders they have rekindled their passion for doing so.
