Qalir (Kah-LEER)
The Qalir are an internal division of the Itoqir consisting of valsar masters. Due to the dangerous and difficult nature of the skill, this division is one of the smaller ones in the army. They do not currently have a Jal or other Eba, meaning that Eba-Qalir Phidene Eburos is their ranking officer to report to the other Jal of the army. She is assisted by Nighnaqa Thii and Lycoire Haw, the only two Prisa they currently have out of their eighteen-strong team.
They are typically armed with northern glaives and wear burnt-orange sashes. Like the Razakir, they are students of the Book of the Spear.

Their flag is a modification of the Itoqir's: an ochre vertical rectangle bordered in gold, with a red, four-winged drake centralized beneath a hollow golden sun, in the center of which is a valsar's paw. Acquiring Valsar:
There has historically been an unsteady relationship between the Uscerre and the Qalir and their predecessors, who often went to the Shelf in search of valsar to tame. Usually the Uscerre gave their blessing, but in times of conflict when the loss of valsar life was too great -- or if they detected that conditions for the warbears were lacking -- this blessing was often withdrawn; sometimes, in this instance, the bears were taken from Uscerre land against the wishes of the Uscerre. Prior to the War of the Six this relationship was soured, meaning the Qalir had to rely on their own bears that had been bred or acquired already or bred since -- considered of weaker constitution, if they were even old enough to serve -- but there were a handful of individual exceptions who were given leave to track and tame Uscerre bears, including Phidene Eburos and Stormbane.
