Solale

Deep beneath the waves off the coast of southern Kih is an underwater village. Currently it serves only as an outpost for water genasi workers who harvest fish and other resources for the oceans' depths. Kih hopes to expand Solale to provide other underwater services and advantages. It also hopes to establish more underwater villages to expand its reach to include the oceans' depths. One of the main difficulties that face these plans is the rarity of those who can breathe underwater.

Geography

The village is built in a large underwater cave. Homes are built in the cave using woven seaweed or other textile like materials waited down with rocks to form extra walls. A similar but much larger wall covers the mouth of the cave to prevent sea animals from entering. Instead of being weighed down with stones, the wall is tied to outcroppings around the mouth. The wall has a slit in it that allows the residents to enter and leave. In addition to homes, the village has a storeroom, a shrine, and a common area. Funiture is simplistic: a mat for a bed, a large rock for a table, and the floor for a chair.

Fauna & Flora

The village is made up entirely of water genasi except for the Soleh, the village priest and worshipper of Sovereign Zinnayas . Sometimes sea animals get in through the slit at the mouth of the cave. Depending on the animal it is either ignored, caught, or in the rare case of the predator, given wide birth until it leaves.

Natural Resources

The cave itself provides stones and shelter but not much else. Outside is a wealth of fish, other sea animals, aquatic plants, and coral.

History

Solale is the dream of Kireh, a water genasi merchant who had always dreamed of having the sea be just as well developed as the land. After the sovereign of Kih allowed the project, he was placed in charge of the village. In the two years that the village has existed, it has done quite well despite its small size but the residents are mostly still wary. They know that this is a risky endeavor and that the village will continue to be in a precarious position until it grows much larger than it is right now.

This is really interesting! I like that it is seen as a sort of 'first test' of maybe expanding underwater villagers out in the future. I also like that some creatures occasionally get in - I bet they cause havoc!
