Infrastructure

Guilds and Factions

• The Iron Ring Consortium The Iron Ring is one of the oldest Guilds in Aell. They deal primarily in slaves, murders and other unsavory business. Although slavery is illegal in Mandrel, the Iron Ring has its headquarters here.
• The White Shield The White Shield is the Guild which is responsible for training, recruiting and managing the Wardens, Sigil Knights and everything related to them. Their headquarters are in Azalea but they maintain a strong presence here as well.
• The Order of Chay Ra The Order of Chay Ra are the last remnants of the Grand Order which Nathan Whytelaw created. After the destruction of Axiom, what remained of the order gathered themselves and started rebuilding the city. Their power has diminished as their numbers are fading but they are still an important part of Mandrel.
• Auberge of Steel The Auberge of Blades is a group of warriors, originating from Briandone who practice martial arts without the use of magic.
• The Circle of the Eldritch Tome The Circle is the prominent arcane institution in Aell. Responsible for managing the Academy, where their headquarters also lie, the Circle has a very strong presence in Mandrel where they study the remnants of the Old World.
• The Greymantles The Greymantles are what the Order was at its best. A group of people dedicated to helping kingdoms solve their differences, not by interference but by guidance and advisement. Their numbers are not great, but they are highly respected as they are the ones responsible for maintaining the Accordions of Peace.
• Dragon's Pentacle Coven A faction of people dedicated to the study of Dragons, in hopes of returning them to their former glory instead of the wretched beasts that they are now.
• Guild of Key & Coin The biggest Guild in Aell in terms of numbers and power. The Guild of Key & Coin operates out of the kingdom of Koyne but they have their headquarters in Mandrel. Dealing in everything from mercenaries to simple products, the Guild has a higher income than most kingdoms.
• Assembly of War A mercenary guild, one with the reputation of being the best and harshest warriors for hire
• Iris Guard The Guard, Army and Wardens of Mandrel
• Council of the Nine The ruling Council of Mandrel, comprised from the leaders of each of the nine greatest guilds
• The Veiled Blade Veiled Blade is the guild which has the least members, eight in total and one leader. But they have a reputation as being the best fighters money can buy. They are part of the Greymantles and are housed in the same building.
• Rainsmiths The Rainsmiths of Eatakeston also have a presence in Mandrel, although they are one of the lesser guilds without a presence in the Council

History

Mandrel is a newly built city which rose from the ruins of Axiom, the capital and stronghold of the Order. After the Dragons went mad and the spell devised by the last Imperator went awry, Axiom was devastated and was left in ruins.
The Order of Chay Ra emerged as the survivors of the Order and took upon themselves the task of rebuilding the city. The progress was slow until Aell begun recovering from the events of the Dragon's Descent. Then other Guilds joined in and Mandrel was created. The Greymantles imposed their protection over the city ensuring that no one would ever try to foolishly attack the holy grounds again.
Since then almost every guild in Aell has a presence in Mandrel, using Euon as a training ground for their best.
