The Feathered Galleon Vehicle in The Cradle of Worlds | World Anvil

The Feathered Galleon

The Feathered Galleon is actually officially named The Relpic (RLPC) standing for Rapid Letter and Parcel Carrier. This is the airship galleon used for physical letters and small packages delivered by the Order of Bamboo in a fast manner. As such, it often also ferries classified couriers long distances. Far more expensive than using the Towers of Wind to send messages, or overland couriers, or even waterborne ships, it provides delivery in less than half the time. It is always the topic of excitement when coming to a town or city, and the subject of many rumors.   Originally part of a flying circus and named the Phoenix's Ascension, the Relpic has been repaired since the Great Flare by the Order of Bamboo and seen non-stop service since its renaming. The ship's captain is Aelir Orostan, the latest in a line of 14 proud captains. The usage of two lightning arcs has allowed it to remain un-compromised in its duties.   Most of the time the Relpic fly's a prescribed course between the major cities of Bellfllower, with only stopping in smaller towns when it knows of a delivery to pick up or drop off. It should be noted that the Relpic is dedicated to travel within the Island Continent of Bellflower and there is a companion airship for expeditions and couriers to the greater world. It is the Erdit (ERDT) standing for the Exploratory Research and Delivery Transport.

Power Generation

The Mystic Engine has been patched over and uses an interface to a pilot and operates pulling from the pilot's magical abilities. Typically this is done in shifts of four hours in length and 4-16 hours of operation a day. Such allows the ship to undertake more rapid travel and push it's limits by an extra two shifts if needed.

Communication Tools & Systems

The ship operates a communication stone adapted from one of the Towers of Wind allowing it rapid communication with the Order of Bamboo at all times.
