Gaz'roc is a Magocracy nation ruled by the dragon, Lord Gaz'roc. The Thane of the region is appointed by the dragon from one of the Five Arcane Houses, most often from the Soumral House.
History
Recent history of Gaz'roc is of a country learning how to become one again after 300 years of infighting. In 3600 2ER, the country broke out in a Civil War after one of the three thanes declared independent sovereignty against the rest of the country. In order to gain the upper hand, they sent half the population of the country magically away, creating an enormous economic void in much of the land causing a small dark age, as well as isolating it from the rest of the continent.
Curses began sprouting up in the lands and with most magic users now banished deep underground, few were left who knew how to combat such evils. The curses spread quickly and the temples stepped in after war to hold the evil at bay in the civilized outposts. Magic was restricted only to the divine and order was re-established in the lands once ruled under Gaz’roc, while down below, their brethren fought for survival.
It would be three hundered years later until Lord Gaz'roc's Champions were able to bring Docean back to the surface and retake the lands. Today, Gaz'roc is still run by the dragon with his new thanes, though tensions are still high in the country despite the passage of time.
The Northenlands are under the thaneship of Docean, most of the centalands under the thaneship of the old capital, Kingshold, and the south under the undying elves Forlorn Forrest.
Euruption of Dragon's Doom, 3990
The Nation of Gaz'roc suffered extensive damage across its northern territories and recently developed ports. The mage city of Docean and the elven nation of Corollairë remain relatively unscathed, taking only damages in the rural areas. The temple of the Dawnflower, a pilgrimage for many of the Gaz'roc's Civil War Champions, was destroyed as was much of Kingshold that was still rebuilding from the demonic onslaught of the Civil War. The city now lies in ruin."Risen from the ashes, in Lord Gaz'roc's name."
The Civil War: To the people outside of Gaz’roc, the land is considered to actually have had two civil wars. The first, where Lord Gaz’roc and his loyalist lost in 3600-3605 2ER and the second where they won after rising from the ground in 3929 2ER. To the locals of Gaz’roc however, it is considered the same war despite the 300 years in between.
