The Civil War of Gaz'roc

In the Civil War of Gaz'roc, the human thane known as the Forgotten One, aptly forgot his station and decided he was the Lord Sovereign over all his people. He began ignoring orders from Lord Gaz’roc and messengers from the other thanes. A civil war finally broke out when one of his knights killed a messenger, Thane Eydan Soumral, and sent back his head. The other two thanes ruled a kind of magicoracy on their lands and the humans latched on to that as an excuse for “corruption” and justification for war.
The forces of Lord Gaz’roc and the other thanes, aided by magic, were powerful and alone would have easily defeated the Forgotten One’s army had it not been for their numbers and a sacrificial spell used at the final battle. Lord Gaz'roc's forces were unprepared for the wave of magic that swept the lands in the final hour, sending all those on the Great Dragon’s side, including Gaz’roc himself, deep underground without knowledge on how to return to the surface.
Curses began sprouting up in the lands and with most magic users now banished deep underground, few were left who knew how to combat such evils. The curses spread quickly and the temples stepped in after war to hold the evil at bay in the civilized outposts. Magic was restricted only to the divine and order was re-established in the lands once ruled under Lord Gaz’roc, while down below, their brethren fought for survival.
It would be three hundered years later until Gaz'roc's Civil War Champions were able to bring Docean back to the surface and retake the lands.

The Conflict

Prelude

While there are many who argue the true reasons behind the war, it is generally agreed upon that the final straw was when the Forgotten One killed the current thane of Docean at the time, Thane Eydan Akaash Liss Soumral, who had gone to the Forgotten One's city in the spirit of peace. In response, they sent a messenger back carrying the thane's head.
The rediscovery of the Forgotten One's tomb, tells us it was one of his knights, Lord Than the Unyeildng, who actually beheaded the thane.

Outcome

The combined forces of Lord Gaz'roc, his champions, and the allies across the continent destroyed the demon forces at Kingshold and destroyed the Cult of Mother. Magic was declared legal again and Kingshold was placed under a more politically acceptable thane, Beltain Wyrin.
