Norta
Norta lies in the southern centrallands of Gaz'roc on the edge of the Forlorn Forrest. Once one of the main cities of Gaz'roc, Norta has seen its share of hardships. Each year, during the summer, Norta has a festival that draws all of Gaz'roc to its city for a celebration of the meaderies.
Infrastructure
Norta is built in a marshland with the crossroads of two rivers. There are many watermills in the region as well as many marshland farmlands of rice fields. Many parts of the city is actually floating and the sewers take much of the city's workforce to keep it from constantly flooding.
History
Once one of the largest cities in Gaz'roc, Norta stood as a symbol of civilization on the edge of the wilderness. The temple was never particularly strong there, though stronger then the Northlands, and the city served as a secret hub for apostates during the war. Most of the populous consisted of humans and half elves with its close proximity to the Fornlorn Forrest.
In 3921, Norta became the battle grounds for the Apostate Uprising. During a festival in the summer for the local meadries, apostates attacked the streets in retaliation for a temple raid on one of the local hidden covens. About 12 bystanders died in the initial attack and over, the next month of skirmishes, about 78 bystandars, 200 templars, and over 300 mages lost their lives. The apostates were able to take the city and hold it for two weeks before temple reinforcements reached the city walls and established rule once more. The city would not see another mage rebellion until the conclusion of the Civil War years later.
In 3936, Norta was the first city to fall under the occupation of the Marfedelom Vaecaesin (or "Death Elves") who swept Gaz'roc as peace keepers. It is still heavily occupied by these "peaceful" agents under Lord Gaz'roc's rule. As a result of this intergration, many citizens of Norta are familiar with the undead tendencies of their 'protectors'.
Architecture
Much of the city is made from wood, as stone tends to sink into the marsh, though there is much stone throughout the city.
