The Great Ubrashana
The Great Ubrashana is the loosely united force of Tunvavvaki ruling the yevelian Ringpeaks. The kingdom's heartland lies in the southern mountains, just east of the city of Echrin, among a collection of plateaus where the royal household dwells. From this space, the Gyrrasha -or king- rules his kingdom tenuously, ordering the forces of lesser Ubrashana -or clans- to enact his wishes.
Structure
The Great Ubrashana is composed of lesser Ubrashana, each ruled by a Gyrrasha who is subservient to The Great Gyrrasha. The office of Gyrrasha is hereditary, but it is not passed directly from parent to child. Instead, after the prior office holder's death, a meeting of their family members is summoned, and they pick a successor from those attending.
History
The Great Ubrashana began in the 1740s when Gyrrasha Kuglan, ruler of a lesser Ubrashana, started sweeping up lesser clans around his territory. After five years of conquest, Kuglan ruled all of the southern ringpeaks, and he had his sights set on governing the whole region. To this end, he struck a deal with the yevelians; in exchange for the right to mine Ocharine in The Ringpeaks, the yevelians gave him 1000 modern muskets and enough ammunition to last him through his conquest. After seven short years, The Great Ubrashana had united all the tunvavvaki clans under a single banner.
Military
The Ubrashana does not have a military in the traditional sense of a centralized core of professional soldiers. Each lesser Ubrashana, when called, must provide a tithe of warriors, men and women in Tunvavvaki culture who briefly dedicate themselves to the art of battle. This occurs only rarely, typically to suppress a rebellion by other lesser Gyrrasha and can often prove unreliable or dangerous.
The other more reliable form of martial power wielded by The Great Gyrrasha are The Nosgweerni, an elite corp of soldiers armed with rifles gifted by The DCY and trained to serve as personal guards for The Royal Household. They're a highly secretive and loyal group trained to enact the whims of The Gyrrasha in all matters. In the past, Gyrrasha have used them as a strike force to crush rebelling armies and safeguard their thrones, giving them an almost cultish and feverous devotion.

trade agreement
Unlike other native Yevelian groups, relations between the DCY and The Great Ubrashana have always been friendly. Their interests align consistently; the yevelians want to mine Ocharine and the Tunvavvaki want items and materials from foreign lands. Thus they worked out a trade agreement to meet both their needs, helping the great Gyrrasha to hold onto power and allowing the DCY to continue to build its cities.
I like the way successors are chosen, and I'm interested to know if it works out better for them than more traditional monarchies have in our world.
