Season 6, Episode 5: "Operation Lock n' Load" Report

General Summary

With Lockette Endrinmaster XII-2 finally on the mend, and the Stewards food reserves nearly gone, it was time for Omega Delta Squad to complete their mission. After gearing up on their motorcycles, the SS Iron Drake navigation pod in tow, the crew roared out of hiding and into the moon of Orikolai, directly into a pit of enraged Swarm beasts.   With Lockette on point, the group headed towards central command, which they believed to be the best blend of speed and safety. While their early pursuers (a group of Swarm Antecursors) didn't offer up much trouble, the sudden arrival of a Swarm Queen, who identified as Crona, specifically targeted the navigation pod, putting the Squad on their toes. Gris and Ghost got the majority of the heat, as the pod was attached to their motorcycle, with Art and Mu Draconis acting as support from behind.   Lockette led them through the forges while Crona raged, past the engineering bay, and at last the hangar -- where Lockette took off for her waiting mech, her navigation pod rolling free beside her, and the rest of the Squad took up defensive positions, keeping Crona out of the fray. The Iron Drake was live after years offline, pushing back at the Outsider trying to infest it, drawing its mighty spear and shield in defiance. The Swarm's starships sounded the alarm, aiming at mech and ground forces alike.   The next twenty seconds were a storm of laser and missile fire, raining hell down on every vulnerable surface, dropping Gris to the ground several times, while Thresher Lords and Mindreapers aided their Queen in her fight.   Lockette suffered some devastating early blows, but she kicked back with the Dragonglass held in her reserves, breaking open the Outsider's shields, and then maimed it with a piercing thrust, blowing a hole through the back of its brains, and Assimilating it into a Tier 10 shard of Dragonglass. The Stewards cried victory as the Starfinder Society arrived, blasting a half dozen starships out of the sky, turning the overwhelming force into a total rout.   Back on the ground, Gris dominated centerfield, constantly on his knees but never out of the fight, taking the worst of starship fire and Crona's spellwork, leaving Art and Mu to clean up the mess. Crona attempted to continue the fight against the Iron Drake, but this flight would be her undoing, as Gris crawled into the skies to deliver a fiery final blow, empowered by Ghost's envoy abilities and Mu's biohacking, signalling an end of the Swarm invasion.   They fled, no longer influenced by the dominate presence in their hivemind, but not before Art caught a vision of Smertrios, where another creature similar to Crona had just woken from an induced slumber.   Luwazi Elsebo greeted the team, congratulating them on their achievements, and Atticus McCallow thanked the Starfinders for the assist. While everyone sat down for a hard-earned rest, Luwazi slid over to Lockette -- as if sensing the Starfinder badge still burning in her pocket -- and offered up a new task...   One that would top everything Orikolai had to offer.

Notes

This was the first time we'd ever run vehicle chase or mech combat rules -- all in one go, because I am a fool.   Also Biohackers are cool. Lockette hit the other mech with a critical hit that was very tasty. Ghost and Mu were secret MVPs. Gris canonically can't hit the broad side of a barn.
